I was only staying in Bergen as I wanted to be close to Alkmaar where I travelled to from the hotel. The buses were very clean and nice to travel on but unfortunately they did not run at the scheduled times, I found i had longer waits than anticipated.

Bergen has a nice atmosphere, a great selection of restaurants and a few pleasant shops too - far more than you would expect from a modest sized village. It's a short cycle ride to the beach and an even shorter ride to Alkmaar so it makes a perfect base for exploring this part of North Holland.

Our host was incredibly helpful and welcoming and the cottage is lovely, very tastefully decorated, comfortable and with everything you need. The location is superb..a very quiet and scenic part of Bergen and an excellent starting point for cycling tours and walks as well as only a short walk from a variety of excellent restaurants. The bed was very comfortable and I slept very well in it considering it wasn’t very long and my feet were hanging out. Location great for any business in Bergen.
