Just as described on the website, the venue is located in a small village which can be reached by gravel road. The road itself is well-maintained and we had no trouble driving in. The house itself is not big, but it does have everything one would need, plus a great panoramic view to the lake. The breakfast is served in a little restaurant nearby and it was delicious.
Located in Glenorchy and only 35 km from Lake Wakatipu, Glenorchy Retreat Apartment provides accommodation with quiet street views, free WiFi and free private parking.

Small but clean and comfortable. Electric plug in cooktop worked well. No oven but Glenorchy Pub restaurant nearby which had excellent meals. Free bikes were a fabulous bonus and allowed more sightseeing.
Located on the beautiful shores of Lake Wakatipu, Blanket Bay offers guests a relaxing hot tub and rooms with lovely lake views. Breakfast, dinner and Wi-Fi are included.

Everything about this property was exceptional. Very pleased we made a last minute decision to stay here.
Only wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 nights we had.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay in such a beautiful location.
This lakefront eco-property is located on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, just a 25-minute scenic drive from Queenstown and 15-minutes drive from Glenorchy.

This is not a "lodge". This is a work of art, which you can stay at. Every aspect of the house interior is thoughtfully and aesthetically decorated using vibrant, warm colours and richly textured wood. The toilet's cistern is a fish tank (no, really!). The house is situated in a large and extraordinary garden filled with trees, flowers, water features, and sculpture. There is (of course) a large number of peacocks, which you can feed. Kitchen, bath, and toilet are shared but very well equipped, and very clean.
Small town. Great general store. Cafe kitchens dont open till 12 so its just coffee n cabinet food till then.
Epic views and good walks to do.
Ate at Mr Glen's Taphouse - great coffee and cabinet food.
Recommend walk around boardwalk and lagoon.
Need a 4WD if going to Paradise - river crossings.

The Glenorchy wharf is a perfect little spot to enjoy some local beer from the pub that sells takeaway bottles! Absolutely perfect, we loved it. Just relaxed on the wharf and had couple drinks and a walk alongside the lagoon area.
Lovely coffee at the local general store!
Awesome little local pub and just a beautiful spot to relax for a night if in between places and wanting to chill before the chaotic Queenstown

Glenorchy was a convenient place to start and finish our tramping trips. It is a pleasant town on its own merits, but for this trip it was just an accommodation and meal place to start and finish our recreation in the backcountry

We are glad that we stayed in Glenorchy and not in crowded Queenstown. It was easy to get around and has a great small-town vibe.
We hiked the Mt. Judah trail and in peak season, we only saw 3 people and a dog. The view of Lake Wakatipu and Glenorchy was breathtaking. To compare, we hiked Roy’s Peak in Wanaka and saw at least 100 people on the trail, and while we did not go to the very top, I think that Mt. Judah was much prettier and interesting with the old scheelite processing shed and views of a forested river gorge. We also had a chance to see part of the Glenorchy Horse Races which was very festive and entertaining. The Paradise Zipline adventure is just a few minutes from Glenorchy and we agree that it was definitely one not to miss. The guides were safety-oriented, so you are in good hands. We were also treated to a nature talk as we hiked uphill a short distance through a beech-dominated forest. A series of 8 ziplines zigzag across and through a spectacular forested river gorge. Awesome!
Made us feel like home once we stepped in. Clean, tidy and cosy and amenities were all very comprehensively provided from light cooking to shower to washer to bicycles to explore nearby. Instructions from our lovely hosts were well communicated before our arrival. House was decorated with lovely Glenorchy/NZ-made decor such as cups, wall decor and inspired us to buy them as well at Frank's store nearby! A TRUE BLUE GLENORCHY STAY EXPERIENCE. Parking is available outside the house.
We stayed in the lodge and immediately became enamored with its history and charm. Restoration was ongoing during our stay, but wasn't a bother at all. We were able to enjoy the brand-new wallpaper, exceptional bedding, and two enormous shared bathrooms. The water cart was always fresh outside our room, and the hot drink station was terrific in the morning. Breakfast was delicious, eaten while looking out over the lake with sunrise peeking over the mountains. That was magical.
I normally don’t do many reviews but I thought I would add some comments. My review is not aimed directly at the hotel but purely giving my opinion about the way I viewed my stay which may well be very different to others. The property is clearly a high quality build and no expense has been spared on the Ecco detail.
Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, outstanding view of the mountains and lake Wakatipu. It’s a short 3 minute drive to Glenorchy town. You could walk but it is along a highway. If you get a chance, drive the extra 30 minutes to paradise and then another 20 minutes through the Ford’s and back country. JUST WOW
Location. Cleanliness and facilities . The apartment was warm and comfortable and it was very cold when I was staying.
It's a beautiful area. Take everything you are going to need as there are no shops and the general store was closed when I tried to visit. Glenorchy walkway and lake sylvan walk are recommended.
This was the best place we have stayed at during our 5 month vacation in NZ! It was so warm, inviting, and easy to live in. It has literally everything we needed, even a coffee machine and washer/dryer!! The hosts are so lovely! I highly recommend this place for your time in Queenstown/Glenorchy!!
Easy booking and arrival, super clean and convenient to be able to stay in Glenorchy for an event. Very Old but an effort has been made on presentation in the room. Appreciate that they've stayed open during a very quiet time during Covid and the option to stay is still available.
The Eco Lodge is a very comfortable accommodation in an amazing location. The rooms and common spaces are all very well maintained. Staff were very kind and helpful; we especially liked the free morning yoga. Breakfast and dinner were very solid, but nothing to write home about.
This was our 4th time staying here. The Heritage Rooms have been upgraded, along with the bathrooms and all the common areas. We like that one has to make an effort to find the Lodge. The staff of young people put in long days and are always pleasant.
Eco-friendly in so many different inventive ways! amazing smelling shampoo and conditioner. great tea. lovely breakfast. great location. cool decor. nice staff. super tasty strong barista coffee included at breakfast.
Really lovely clean warm well euipped and nicely decorated. Lots of little touches that showed Beth & Awel had really thought about making their guests stay special. They were super friendly & helpful hosts.
Self contained studio in a quiet setting, a short drive from town. Comfortable bed, good shower and well equipped. Glenorchy was lovely, although sad to see a few businesses no longer operating.
Great place to stay! Beautiful location, great hosts, easy to find and get in, and fully worth the price. Would absolutely recommend it, and hope to stay again sometime in the future!
One of the best accomodations I ve ever stayed at and the view is priceless. Highly recommend to everyone out there. Just one word to describe that is "Paradise"
