Very furnished common areas, everything clean and nicely decorated. The staff was very kind to let us leave the luggages untill evening, and then to allow us to stay in the same room after our ship was canceled.

Loved the old city...however, construction was taking place which made getting around by car a little confusing. Loved walking around the waterfront and seeing the famous marina as well as the artwork created by mariners. Shopping in the local stores was a good experience with prices that you don't feel taken advantage of. Shopping in the city's Mercado was also a nice experience. Trying new restaurants around the city was also a good experience. While there, rent a car...best way to get around as public transportation is not regular or abundant. Also, try to visit the neighboring island of Pico on the ferry and spend a few days there...lots to see.

Island more quiet than Sao Miguel, felt more centered around the sea. A good mix of sea and land. A few good walks along the shore or around a caldera or inland. Unusual landscapes. The roads are very good compared to Sao Miguel.

We have now visited Horta 13 times in eight years, and will continue to visit in coming months/years. For a small city in the middle of the North Atlantic, Horta has a very welcoming feel, and is an ideal base for people wanting to visit the central group of Azorean Islands.
It's easy to walk around, and the rest of the island of Faial is accessible through day tours, e.g. with Azores Experiences who we would highly recommend. There are whale and dolphin watching trips from March - October, together with walking tours, Caldeira descent (which requires a formal guide and cannot be done alone), and a visit to the volcano and interpretation centre at Capelinhos is a must.
There are a good number of excellent restaurants (Atletico, Medalhas, Genuino, Taberna do Pim, etc.) and the Oceanic bar and restaurant (their barbecue is superb) to try locally caught fish and local beef. For a good value breakfast or lunch, there are plenty of small cafes (e.g. Cafe Silva, behind Peter's Cafe) which offer great hospitality.
If the weather is good and you fancy a relaxing day, there is also the beach at Porto Pim, which is used regularly by visitors and locals alike.

Nice little layd back town with astounding views of the islands Faial and Pico with their different and mystifying volcanoes, over the ever present calming ocean sights and sounds. Friendly locals serve all kinds of traditional and popular dishes and snacks, and offer quality lodging depending on your wishes and wallet. With a rental car, taxi or public transport it's easy to visit interesting geological, natural and cultural locations spread around the island. There is a lot of time and space there to come to yourself or interact with the local community.

Thelma and Carlos were very helpful
Thelma and Carlos were very helpful
The accommodation was spotless. Thelma brought us fruit and tomatoes from her garden. The room was large and kitchen well equipped. There was a lot of rain when we visited and it was cold but Thelma provided thick blankets.
Superb location, very clean, well equipped. As new but we were told it is 3 years old.
It has A/C which we used in the warm setting to warm and dry out after a spring rainy day. It never gets too hot but this feature is essential to help with the humidity of these islands. Out of 4 places we stayed in the Azores, it was the only one with A/C, and a blessing. It did not smell as humidity either, as most houses/flats do. Definitely our most comfortable stay in the Azores. Good mattress as well.
Great place to short stay located within quiet neighborhood with spectacular view to Monte de Guia and Pico. Nicely arranged spacious room, access to the well equipped kitchen and short distance to the center of Horta are not to be missed. If you travel between islands and your stay at Azores is longer than just two days, its a right place to stay as you can get easy access to the laundry. The host is very nice and really helpful, trying to make your stay as good as it could be.
The place is very charming, like an old fashioned home, very warm and inviting. Only 8 rental rooms. Quiet with a huge garden and pool ( which we didnt use). Good breakfast, not too fancy but enough to start the day.
Beds were excellent, although they only had 2 twin beds for us and not a double bed.
There was no check in time, they asked us about our time of arrival and we got the room when we arrived, at about 10:30 in the morning...
What a beautiful location with fantastic staff! We staid in the twin room Urze which was stylish and super comfortable. Located towards the back of the garden it was super quiet even though you are right in the center of Horta and only a few minutes walking distance from the ferry port. We would totally return and stay longer next time. There also is a great kitchen and laundry facilities available for all to share.
The staff is really helpful and nice. In kitchen there is always some cake, fruits, tea and some spices. Everything is clean and fresh. We really enjoyed the stay. The big plus is air-conditioning in rooms, as we were during winter time, we could heat the room, as normally it is too cold in houses in winter on Azores.
The view from window is georgous!
This b&b is lovely. It has a beautiful garden and has one of the best views of the island, thanks to its location up on a hill overlooking the island Pico and Horta. It also has a wonderful host, Yvette who will welcome you warmly ! Also, breakfast is great and abundant. We really loved the stay here and recommend it for a perfect experience in Faial.
Cosy, well equipped appartment in a very good location close to the sea promenade, marina and ferry to Pico. Friendly host. The interiors were fine as well as the kitchen. Free car park nearby. Padaria, minimarket and some restaurants within 3 minutes walk. Best solution for Horta stay.
Everything, convenient location, just a few minutes from the Ferry terminal and close to the center of Horta. The host, Paula, is super nice and helpful for whatever is needed. If I was you reading this, I would definitely book asap and enjoy the stay as much as possible!!
The hotel is in a strategic position at Horta.
Highlight of the structure is the swimming pool with a panoramic view on Pico volcano, very nice during sunrise and Sunset.
Everything in the hotel works well, especially the rich and diversified breakfast.
The house is tidy and clean. Very close to horta. The host left in the house a number of tour guides and books with tips and ideas to visit the island. There is plenty of space in the house. The kitchen has everything you might need. Good job Tiago!
Perfect location - you can reach all you need in Horta walking, appartment is well equiped and Paul was always helpful in case of any problem or question. The house has small garden and it is on quiet spot.
Fantastic view to Horta marina and an incredible large terrace to our room. Breakfast was more than good and also nice a la carte restaurant. Close to the bars and restaurants but also quiet and relaxing.
Nicely arranged room space, vast shared kitchen space, terrace facing the ocean, helpful staff. It is actually a hotel with dorms available, not a hostel. All facilities are well maintained and clean
Charming house with a lovely garden in a quiet neighborhood. Great resting sleep, tasty breakfast. Thoughtful hosts that care about their guests. Will come again for sure.
The staff was very friendly. The location is excellent, and you can go on a walk to everywhere in Horta.
The room was very spacious and had all you need.
