This was a really mixed experience. The excellent parts were excellent. The less good parts were startling!
Excellent - the public areas (downstairs, dining room and especially staircase) are absolutely stunning. The forest surrounding the hotel is a little miracle in itself, and would have made the stay worthwhile on its own. The views from everywhere in the hotel and outside looking back are of course beautiful. The breakfasts were excellent, and the breakfast room a real gem. The cleaning staff were friendlier than the concierges! - and took great pride in keeping the place beautiful.

Very spacious and comfortable, fantastic breakfast, great views. It was a novel experience staying at a small castle! Also within walking distance to the forest and Cruz Alta. Would definitely stay again
Tranquil guest house just an 11-minute drive from Mealhada. The Residencial Imperial is in the centre of Luso and is located within a short 3-minute drive from the famous Luso Thermal Spa.

The Accomodation is located in a beautiful, green setting and with lots of space around. The room we had was also super spacious. We were able to park our bikes in a safe location. From the hotel it is only a short walk into Luso.
The host was incredible friendly. Breakfast was nice and plenty. We only stayed for a night but really liked the place and certainly would come back.
Parque de campismo de Luso provides a public bath and free private parking, and is within 46 km of University of Aveiro and 47 km of Congressional Center of Aveiro.

We stayed in Luso for two nights and enjoyed our time. It is remote so we did not feel as though we needed more time there than we had but we did visit the local spa which we enjoyed and we had the best meal all trip in town!
Definitely worth stopping in at.

The town is well worth a visit.
The town is well worth a visit.
It was a shame we didn't have more time fo the thermal baths - they're not open on a Sunday.
Buçaco forest is magical, make lots of time to go there and spend at least a full day.
If you can stay in the Palace, it is well worth it.

The Bussaco Castle was beyond our expectations, the hotel staff were amazing, a representative showed us the lobby area and the amenities prior to our room arrival after our check in. We had a fantastic room (The Queen room). There are several activities to do such the visit to the convent/museum, the shop, and long walking trails in the forest, this was an incredible stay for us to celebrate a very special event, we had dinner at the hotel and the dinner was superb, the bartender knows how to make great mix drinks, the entire staff in the hotel were welcoming, friendly and courteous. This castle is truly one of a kind and highly recommend it to my friends!

Located in the heart of the Serra do Bussaco, Palace Hotel do Bussaco is an excellent example of Manueline-Gothic architecture. Its richly decorated corridors feature antique furnishings, large paintings and traditional Portuguese glazed tiles. Bussaco National Forest is wonderful.

Luso itself is a small nineteenth-century spa town--not much to do there except 'take the waters' (which my wife did, very enthusiastically) and walk in the national forest. It's a place for the sensitive, quieter traveller, rather than someone seeking thrills and excitement.
Highly recommendable small vintage hotel breathing the atmosphere of the old times … The super-friendly owner bent over backwards to accommodate us although the hotel was actually fully booked. Very good breakfast buffet, a nice swimming pool and parking on the premises. Will come again!
The owners and staff were helpful and wanted to make us feel at home.
They were able to fulfill special requests.
Each day our room was made up and a large bottle of beautiful Luso water was on the mantle waiting for us.
Very Large rooms with comfortable chairs and beds.
This is an extraordinary Hotel on a Palace built for one of Portugal last kings and it is by itself a masterpiece of architecture in the Manuelini style ( linked to Porugueses Sea Discoveries). Highly recommended for its historical value/ architecture.
Lovely hotel right in the centre of Luso. The hotel is clean and very comfortable, the bar area was very nice. Breakfast was great plenty of choice. The swimming pool was amazing and the fitness area was very well equipped.
Sylvia is a delightful host! Room was a suite, comfortable and warm (November). Hot water for the shower, a must have for me. Easy walk to a delicious dinner in town of Luso. Amazing breakfast at the villa.
Everything, (not) for a change. The quietness, the clocks (which now chime very gently). The garden by the pool. The plain of Bairrada (rain allowing) seen up above, from Luso. Hope to return very soon.
A big 100-year-old house surrounded by an old forest. Quiet location near (1km) the center of Luso. We were the only visitors that night, but the small breakfast prepared just for us was perfect.
Beautiful, old hotel. Good value.
It was very clean, comfortable.
Great staff, so helpful.
The rooms are very small, but for the little time you are in the room it is not a problem.
Beautiful building with history attached to it ! Fantastic location with work wonderful views! Just perfect to visit luso ..
Hosts are just lovely couldn’t rate my stay high enough !!
We had a wonderful stay at Vila Aurora. The house is beautiful, the bed was so comfortable and the staff was amazing. The breakfast was delicious and Luso is a lovely town to explore.
The room size, bed, bathroom and breakfast were all great at the hotel. However we went there for the spa, which is not part of the hotel and it's an awful spa
