The breakfast was amazing, especially since they do not have some sort of buffet, you get to pick and choose what you want from the menu. The rooms are really cozy, and I appreciated how the colors matched the entire room. The beds were comfortable but not amazing. I even got to play a bit of tennis on the field next to the accommodation. The views are amazing, with the entire mountain vista easily seen from the terraces.

Nice place, pretty simple, clean air, quiet (when no motorcyclists around). Not many "attractions" end of August, but as a busy person in a big city I do appreciate a little slow living now and then, to recharge my batteries. Very good food is available in the area. Organic stuff, homemade style.

This resort has potential to become something nice.
This resort has potential to become something nice.
Currently there's no ATM here so you'll have some cash at your disposal for places where paying by card is not an option (like skiing hours, equipment rental, paying for parking and guarantee for the ski-lift card)
Also I've only identified two supermarkets both are rather small and only one of them accepts credit cards.
Parking is rather difficult especially when it's snowing and parking on the side of the road is no longer an option, for the M1 sky track there are only two parking lots that are rather small and one of them is 30Ron/day.
For the M3 and sleigh tracks there is a larger parking lot available at 5Ron/h.
In what regards food I have tried Tara Ranca and Alessia Restaurant and both offered great services.
In what regards skiing and snowboarding lessons I recommend NDY Skiing Center that is located near the M1 track.
Also I recommend going from Sunday to Saturday or mid week in order to avoid congestion.

One of the greatest roads in the country - Transalpina.
The view is breathtaking, the air is clean, the people are friendly.
If you travel by car there are a lot of wonderful places to visit in the close proximity (100-150km).

The surroundings, the location are excellent.
The surroundings, the location are excellent. Plenty of accommodation facilities. Hotel Paring was excellent, very good food, nice location and facilities. It is easy to get there from Tirgu Jiu, and it is very spectacular to get there on Transalpina mountain road, but not easy. There is a ski resort and there are mountaineering opportunities. Parang mountains are very close and easy to get there.

The main attraction in the summer is the beautiful road "...
The main attraction in the summer is the beautiful road "Transalpina" on which Ranca is situated. The road is the highest road in Romania. Along the many hairpin turns of the road, vast, breathtaking vistas appear on clear days which will undoubtedly overwhelm your senses.
There are several rustic places to visit on the way and even some daring hiking opportunities for enthusiasts.
Ranca truly shines as a ski resort in the winter.
Overall, it's a sure winning destination, but only if the weather gods are in your favor.

Beautiful nature with mountains and forests.
Beautiful nature with mountains and forests.
Very scenic drive down Transalpina.
Unfortunately, people don’t seem to care about the environment. Hotels and guest houses’ owners do not take care of anything outside their door. They don’t understand that tourists drive for hours not for a bed and shower but to enjoy the beauty of nature.
They should clean up the resort and plant trees and flowers, not litter everyehere.
Awesome location, especially if you come for skiing as it is ski-in sky-out type of place. Just yards away from ski slope.
Very friendly staff , was very helpful to organize a very special birthday party.
Place was very clean with some caveats - read below;
We only spent one night in this hotel. It´s nice and well equipped. The room has a balcony (with no really view on this side, but good for drying motorbike clothes), good WiFi and it´s clean.
Very friendly and attentive staff.
Very good location within Ranca, well maintained property, hospitable hosts and good value and food in the restaurant. For those interested there are ATV's to rent and explore the alpine plain.
Great location in Ranca. The rooms are modern, very clean, the bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was a great plus. The host is very nice and helpful. I recommend this place!
The best place to stay in Ranca. Nice and quiet location. Marvellous stay even that it was for only one night. I did not find any flaws, I just had a great time!
If you want to travel on the Transalpina, it's best if you book a night in Ranca. The place was nice, clean, spacious room and the staff was very friendly.
