Breakfast was so crowded. Hard to move around or find a seat. The creamer for the coffee was gross and the cereal was all plain flavors. Nice they had eggs and meat though. Thank you for having that.

It was a good motel to spend the night. Both the evening and morning receptionists were really helpful.

I only stopped overnight.
I only stopped overnight. I wish I could have stayed another day to explore the shops on the Arcata Plaza. They have good restaurants and a Farmers market on Saturday morning. Definitely worth a couple of days to explore shopping and nature.

Poly college tour. we could only stay 1 night but the location was great as it was only 6 minutes from the campus which was helpful given that we had a 9am tour.
We ate dinner at the Madrone Brick fire place pizza place which was delicious. The cooking of the pizzas was slow but we enjoyed out family time together and they were fantastic when they came, so plan on having time to visit with your family or friends. It's worth the wait! We then went to the homemade Ice cream shop in town by the bay.

Beautiful town! Great marketplace on Saturdays.
Beautiful town! Great marketplace on Saturdays. People are super friendly. Laid-back chill vibe. There's a restaurant right next to the Ramada called Tony's. That's open 24 hours and their food is excellent

The beaches are amazing.
The beaches are amazing. I wish we had time to go through the Avenue of the Giants. We focused on the ocean and the shops. Lots of eclectic art and jewelry. There are certain areas to avoid due to vagrants.

Arcata is close to many wonderful side trips.
Arcata is close to many wonderful side trips. It has a vibrant Saturday farmer's market. Interesting shops on the square and a great co-op. Otherwise it's run down and best used as a home base for exploring the area.

The area seems to be experiencing a recessive state, homeless people everywhere, very few places to eat, many places shut down. It's right off the freeway up the coast and close to the ocean....it just seems run-down.
Hotel Arcata is a staple in beautiful Arcata. I've stayed there periodically over the years and it's always impressed and been dead reliable. The closure of TJs and the other bar leaves a bit of a hole on that side of the square (and it's been filled by some...questionable folks) but the rest of the square seems to be thriving with wonderful shops and restaurants. So many things are walking distance (the marsh, a ton of shops and restaurants, and even the HSU (it's still HSU to me) campus.
I really like the location of this hotel, because it is near Hwy 101 and Hwy 299 which makes it a great place to jump off to any destination I might have in the local area. There are also multiple food options within walking distance, as well as a couple gas stations / convenience stores. Also, it is all in one building, so once I am in for the night, the only people I see are other guests.
I loved everything about this hotel. It was quiet, very clean and updated, good mattress and linens, fluffy towels, nice landscaping and the morning breakfast was very good. My room had a coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge, what more can you ask for? Easy on and off from the Freeway. Staff very friendly and helpful. They also have a pool and hot tub, though I didn't use it.
The room was very nice and clean. The hotel staff was very respectful and attentive. The breakfast had a good variety of sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy, fruit, cereal etc. I was impressed. The neighborhood is good with surrounding hotels and a few restaurants. The parking lot is gated at night which is nice. It's a nice hotel I'd go there again. Thank you guys.
Breakfast was satisfactory Bathroom was really small, no towel racks so hung them in the closet, dispensers were empty, toilet roll was mostly empty upon arrival so I had to go to the office to get more. This is a very old hotel. Overpriced but this time of year they all are.
Great stay after a long drive on I 5. The location was an easy off and on. There are food places within walking distance. The morning breakfast was good. The hotel is very clean, friendly, and a good setup for walking the dog. I would stay again.
I love staying in hotels that with s feeling of history about them. Hotel Arcata is over a hundred years old and, even though it has been modernized in functional ways, it still feels as it must have in the roaring twenties. It's also good value.
I was nice to be central to the town so we could walk to anything we needed. I thought it was fun to stay in a historical style hotel. They offered a continental breakfast but we didn't have time to try anything.
The cottage is quiet. It is near redwoods. It is close to some great parks with beautiful hiking trails. Arcata is small but has great places to shop. Eureka has great murals to find.
Very well taken care of hotel considering it’s age. On the opposite side of the 101 without all the other hotels so the homeless population is much smaller.
