BEST WESTERN The Hotel Chequamegon, hotel in Ashland

Overlooking the Chequamegon Bay, this hotel offers an indoor pool and a restaurant. Located in Ashland, BEST WESTERN The Hotel Chequamegon is adjacent to Memorial Park. Free WiFi access is available....

This property takes you back in time with its ornate furniture, wall paper and other accents. Absolutely adored hanging out in the parlor watching the sunset. The new restaurant downstairs is delightful and a lovely way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Enjoyed the pool too although it would be nice to have bigger pool towels but that’s a minor detail. We had an issue with our bathroom and it was taken care of promptly.

Very beautiful area. Also just a short trip to MI and MN.

Very beautiful area. Also just a short trip to MI and MN. We did Yooper rock hunting a couple nights at Black River Harbour & Little Girl Point, which was very fun. Lots and lots of waterfall hikes within 50 miles of Ashland. Even though it was rainy when we went, we had a great time. Would definitely recommend taking a Ferry to Madeline island. I would take a vehicle over, its quite a distance to walk or bike around the island. Definitely check out Big Bay Lagoon on Madeline island. Beautiful hike on a board walk around Lake Superior. So pretty!! Would have definitely toured the islands, but it was too cold and rainy the week we were there.

well you need to find a place to eat dinner there early because the places close early, like 8 p.m. El Charro Mexican restaurant is good in Ashland. We also ate at a Pub and Pizza place not far from the AmericInn that has sandwiches as well as pizza. Stay away from the Family Restaurant.

It was one night on a nine-day trip home, just the right distance between Bemidji, MN, and Newberry, MI. We ate supper at the Deep Water Grill, over-rated in our opinion compared with the reviews we'd read while researching "restaurants near me" on the internet.

Ashland is a gorgeous little city right on the shores of Lake Superior. If you enjoy nature and consider it a critical part of a meaningful travel experience, you've found your place. The town is rather quiet - at least in the late summer when I have visited - but if you like solitude, as I do, then all the better. Quirky little shops dot the downtown and there's a good selection of restaurants to eat at throughout the city. Personal recs: Ashland Family Restaurant and the Deep Water Grille Another boon? You're right next door to verdant Bayfield County, where you can visit the Apostle Islands by ferry from Bayfield proper - about a 30 minute drive from Ashland (and it's a VERY scenic one). I cannot recommend this enough: if you find yourself one day under a clear, azure sky with few if any clouds in sight... go to the Apostles! The boat ride is fun and there's lots to do on Madeline Island.

The hotel had a wonderful sitting area in the back overlooking the lake. They had chairs, picnic tables, and a fire pit. The pool and hot tub were clean and the gym looked nice as well although we did not use that. They had the best continental breakfast I have personally had! There were biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, pancakes, waffles as well as your normal continental breakfast foods. The staff was very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.

Danelle at the front desk was super. The hot tub is small (1-4 people) but not much used and working great 👍. The location is excellent right on the Lake Superior shore road, with lovely views. The hotel is MUCH better than a normal Super 8 with rocking wifi and very clean AAA class rooms, medium size. Fridge microwave, very very comfy stay. Trust the quality. Walmart nearby.

Beautiful hotel and location for a city / town that is more industrial looking than some others on Superior. 1st floor rooms had super tall ceilings. not functional but it sure feels special. great balconies to sit on, fun bar in the hotel, right on the Marina and a walking/biking path the follows the shoreline. The bed was amazing.

We didn't think the breakfast was very good compared to other hotels we have stayed at. What was very good was the outdoor deck. We spent most of our time (when we were at the hotel) on that deck. Staff was really very nice. Gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant in town and we went there twice in one day.

Old-fashioned cabin-resort conveniently located between Ashland and Washburn on Chequamagon Bay (Lake Superior). Easy drive to anywhere in the Bayfield area. I enjoyed the 1960's "up north" rustic ambiance, but some might not. I do believe there are more "modern" cabins on the property.

Nothing likable beyond the location. I suppose the architecture is better than a typical hotel in the area, but there was no reason to spend time in the lobby.
