Hana was very laid back.
Hana was very laid back. No real restaurants, just food trucks, but some beaches nearby were amazing (Koki and Hamoa), but town beach not great.
Definitely worth staying a night or two in order to enjoy sightseeing beyond Hana.

The views are spectacular.
The views are spectacular. If you have the Waianapanapa Park Black Sand Beach on your to do list buy the reservation with time and make sure you time to get there before 10:30 am. Tour buses start arriving around that time and the park starts filling up with people. What my wife and I did was to reserve a stay in Hana and catch the Black Sand beach on our return trip since it is located 10 mins from Hana. We booked our stay on the Hana Maui resort. Had great views and friendly staff but it was pricey at $800 per night. In my opinion, it was money well spent though as there are few options and the rest really helped before turning back.

I'm so glad we decided to stay the night after we drove the road to Hana. The town is very cute and the locals are very sweet and friendly. The Hamoa beach, Wainapanapa state park are amazing. We enjoyed our time here. Can't wait to come back.

It's not about Hana, it's about the stops on the way.
It's not about Hana, it's about the stops on the way. I was really worried seeing so many negative reviews but I'm really glad we went. The roads can be hair raising but the beaches, waterfalls and hikes were worth it. Each had a different appeal so we never got tired of stopping. Spending a night in Hana was absolutely the right call. It made the trip much more enjoyable.

Apparently that side of the island is normally a bit more rainy than other parts of Maui, but the rainy season definitely exacerbated the amount of rain. That would be a huge factor in planning this trip as rain deters slightly from the overall experience since part of the trip is stopping along the road for various sights - which is definitely more fun without rain (especially if you rented a convertible).

Hana is a special place unlike any other.
Hana is a special place unlike any other. Its infrastructure is just developed enough to get there and stay as comfortably as you wish. However, resources are limited enough to make you aware; it encourages you to become an integral part of keeping Hana pristine, from picking up after yourself (and others) in nature and on private property to conserving energy and treading lightly when possible.
Beautiful resort at a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed the infinity pool. We also loved the yoga class. We love the spacious rooms. The staff was very friendly, brought out bags to our rooms and accommodated an extra hour for late check out. We also enjoyed the kukui nuts necklaces and the welcome pog. I wish we had more than one night but we had a very busy schedule while in Maui. I want to mention that we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Food was good, drinks were good, and Jay was exceptional as our server.
This place was amazing! We stayed here for 4 nights out of our 2 week trip and it was the most amazing part of the trip for me! Close to everything in Hana, so we took our time exploring that side of the island. At night you could hear the ocean and had an awesome breeze going through the cottage (slept like a baby). The owners were very nice and the property was beautiful. We were up every morning to see the sunrise and they were always amazing. I tell everyone if they go to Maui they must stay there.
Excellent location for travelling the road to Hana. We could rest after our long drive and do the road bac the next day easily. We were welcomed on arrival by the owner and given helpful advice about the area. The studio was clean and had everything we needed for our night stay including kitchen and bathroom essentials and snacks to enjoy. Felt very welcome and cared for. Was so exciting to stay in the jungle in such a beautiful part of Maui. Mahalo to the owners.
Dale was so friendly and gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Hana Farms). Amenities were so comfy, especially in between our drives on the exciting Road to Hana and exploring the hot, humid jungle; we felt right at home in the middle of the jungle! Also excellent selection of snacks and reading material, which was great since most of the town closes up shop in the early evening. I just wish we could have stayed longer! Hana has so much to explore.
If you pay the lesser but still hefty price of 800 USD, you will get the old, non-renovated rooms, which are spacious and have some nostalgic charm to them, but are also in urgent need of a thorough upgrade. Otherwise, the property is stunning, with lush gardens and views of Hana, and an exquisite pool overlooking the ocean. The pancakes are your best options at breakfast.
The apartment was spacious, clean and quiet. It was the perfect place to stay after driving the Road to Hana. Dale, the owner was lovely. The communication from him before and during the stay was great. He even had a lovely basket of food for us, knowing that there really aren't any restaurants open after 5 in Hana.
The lodging is one of the few in the area but not the only one. The location is great, a cottage right in the rainforest at the end of the well known "road-to-hana". As a guest we had a kind of studio, including the kitchen area and of course the bathroom (by the way, the best shower throughout our experience in Hawaii).
This place is incredibly beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night to break up our journey driving the road to Hana and it was just a perfect place to rest and recharge. The rooms are incredible and the views are even better. It was just a shame we only had one night there.
The space is bigger than it looked in the photos and has a lovely fully equipped kitchen. There were tons of amenities (tea/coffee, snacks, snorkel gear, etc.) Dale was really friendly and helpful. We thought Heavenly Hana Paradise was much preferable to staying in a resort.
Bed was very comfortable, space was clean and nicely decorated. This was directly on the Road to Hana and easy to find. The snacks were great and unexpected! Shower had awesome pressure and felt delightful after camping for a week prior to arrival!
The location in Hana was perfect after the long drive. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There was a kitchen with a coffee pot and coffee and even some snacks!! The host was really friendly and helped us find a place for dinner!
The remote location; away from the hustle and bustle of more populated areas. It’s very peaceful and laid back in Hana and on the resort. The resort is beautiful - wonderful views all over the property. The staff is very welcoming and helpful.
wide and comfortable room very clean.the owner is very helpful with tourist information .the place is quiet and easy to find and Hana is a place we liked very much (George harrison stayed there !)peaceful charm and great hikes around.
This property is a gem in the heart of Hana. A short walk to the beach, beautiful ocean views and plenty of space for everyone to spread out! The hot tub and sauna were hits with our group as well.
One of our favorite stays on our trip! Very comfortable and very clean. Perfect place to relax after a full day of driving the road to Hana. Beautiful gardens around property. Highly recommend
Breakfast was good , dinner limited in choice , we had an extra bed in our room , not that comfortable , And the Hotel took 2 weeks to return my deposit
