The girl at the front desk was really nice and helpful. And the laundry room was great. I was able to leave with my clothes clean! Being so close the AT was also great. Thru-hikers can be back on the trail in no time.
Marion is home to Hungry Mother State Park. There are awesome views of Mt Rogers at Mollys Knob. You can also drive to Stuart Staley Overlook to catch the sunset. The best restaurant in Marion is The Wooden Pickle. I have been there 2 times and it is excellent. You can also enjoy a show or concert at Lincoln Theater just across the street from there. There is also plenty of things to do very close to Marion, such as biking the Virginia Creeper Trail and Grayson Highlands State Park with wild ponies!!!

Loved historic downtown Marion, especially "Song of the Mountains" at the Lincoln theater. Beautiful restored theater. Great restaurants and shops (especially Lions and Hester's Country Store & Fudgery). Other than the General Francis Marion hotel, lodging is leaves a lot to be desired in Marion. Absolutely don't stay at hotels at or near the Red Roof Inn. The area is pretty rough and a train runs right behind the hotels.

Great mountainous sightseeing, access to Dragons-Tail winding road provides great views and fun drive. Friendly townsfolk, reasonably priced motels and plenty of eating establishments. Very easy access from I-81.
