Portland is a walkable city.
Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip! My favorites from this trip: Fore Street Restaurant, Honey Paw, and Jing Yan. My husband loved Bar Futo and the bar at Via Vecchia.

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. Best seafood ever.
Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland. Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.AlexandraGermany

My room faced the back, so I didn't hear any traffic noise. As a light sleeper I consider this an important point. The staff was polite and helpful and suggested good places to eat. There is no restaurant, but a few steps away is a good Mediterranean (Greek, Lebanese) place. The downtown area, full of restaurants and cafés, is within walking distance. I really recommend this hotel.

Some good restaurants within walking distance, but you need a car or take the bus to get to the port area. We took the bus with no problem. People of Portland are very friendly.
