Although we were able to park free while on our cruise (that’s changed in 2023) this was the worst, noisiest hotel ever. Located in bad part of town & smelled stale. For the cost, location & quality I wish I could have a refund.

free room upgrade to a suite was a plus. king size bed was comfy but not too keen on the full pillows. traffic was noisy and the main entrance could only be accessed with the flow of traffic. later, i noticed a side gated entrance but it was never opened for guests. jacuzzi didn't work and the pool wasn't a heated pool. breakfast was available but there were too many people and too little sitting areas. despite some small complaints, it was a very good stay and comfort level was high. good price for the area. Denny's restaurant next door. convenience store and gas station across road.

Didn’t like our stay here at all.
Didn’t like our stay here at all. Whole area was dodgy and didn’t feel safe at all. Floor in the whole place was sticky. Advertise they will call you a taxi when you leave. Guy refused to call us a taxi and gave us the number to call ourselves after we told him that it was offered in our email. After a hour we finally got a taxi to take us to the cruise terminal. Both of our groups will not stay here again.

It’s a dusty little shipping area with tons of trucks and docks for loading and unloading. Very close to downtown long beach though! It was also pretty quiet other than the occasion laboring outside which wasn’t too noisy.
I actually live in Los Angeles but I run across Catalina Island every year and it requires getting to the boat super early. As such, the night before, I usually stay near the harbor so that I can get to the boat easier. You don't have a lot of options in the area so I will say that for the money this place is fantastic. It is very bare bones, kind of like a nice European hostel. But definitely worth the very cheap rate. Shared bathrooms aren't my favorite but for the price I'm happy to abide. Would stay there again.
The hotel was right for the price, basic room, clean, quiet. I'm not sure if the couple that run it are employees or the owners, but they are very nice. They walk you to your room upon check in and make sure to offer you coffee in the morning, even if you are sitting outside. The neighborhood feels sketchy with everything closed up, but you don't feel unsafe as there are factory workers coming and going all night and walking too and from cars parked on the streets.
Staff was really nice and cooperative. Nightly Parking costs only 10$ and the gate closes at 10pm but the staff even let us in after midnight once.
Feels more like a hostel than a hotel but the price is unmatched for LA and staff helped us out with everything that we needed.
I would come back any time, but be aware, Wilmington is not a nice neighborhood but you are in the center of LA pretty fast by car because the highway is close to the hotel.
I really did enjoy my stay at the Portlight. The room was nice and the bed is super comfortable. There was obvious noise due to the near by port. The other people at the hotel weren't too nice and did make a lot of noise, but for the most part I would definitely go back again.
We enjoyed our stay. Perfect to catch a ship in San Pedro. We got upgraded to a 2 room suite. Some of the furniture is worn and door to bedroom was a bit broken . The price was awesome. Denny's next door is really good. If your in front rooms of hotel street noise is bad .
Used the hotel as an affordable 1 night stop over on way to LAX.
A nice one level motel, clean and tidy with microwave and fridge in room.
Comfortable bed and hot shower.
This motel was better than expected for the price.
Going on a cruise & was recommended ti us. Nice hotel, friendly staff, felt safe & the breakfast was good. We came early & they checked us in but for a fee😲 the inly draw back. Other wise then the fee all was good.
The location of the hotel was just right for our trip the next day to the port. The bed was comfy but the view sucked as we were looking at garbage bins from next door. But our room was fine other than that/
The hotel is small but surprisingly comfortable and very clean. The staff was great and helped with everything I needed. I loved the history of the place and knowing it made my stay even more unique.
The hotel is cute and very clean. The staff was super helpful.
We got there late and left early, and had to park on the street. Everything was alright, and we even saw a guard early morning.
I thought I may have lost something. And the staff went above and beyond to make sure I't wasn't. Also the hotel had a very good view of the fireworks and wasn't busy around me.
It was a good night stay. Rooms were clean and it was close to where we wanted to go. Hotel was accommodated with our request of having 2 rooms next to each other.
