The staff was a 10/10!! They were amazing. They really gave us that family feeling and accommodated everything around our 2 boys. While dinner was at 7, they arranged food for them at 5. The pool is beautiful and the garden is very big, kids loved running around. There is a playground and we saw monkeys early morning.
Offering daily game drives into Addo Elephant National Park, 8 km away, this Colonial-style house has 2 outdoor pools. With free Wi-Fi, its stylish rooms are in thatched cottages in the garden.

- very friendly staff
- comfortable and large room with all amenities it requires
- two nice pools, a larger and a smaller one
- authentic breakfast, we especially liked the Uganda Rolex dish :)
- close proximity to Addo Elephant Park main entrance
- Management pro-actively mentioning the proximity of a gravel road close by where there's potential louder truck traffic (but was not a problem at all)
- also, as there is no dinner available, the Elephant House already reserved us a table in a restaurant near by - excellent service!
- large grocery shopping facility within 5min drive

The gardens and settting are beautiful. It's very peaceful and our room was lovely. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed for self-catering. The staff and hosts were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is about 14kn from the main gate of Addo Elephant Park, so it is situated perfectly for the purpose of our visit. We'll definitely be back!!

The park was fantastic with plenty of interaction with elephants.
We ate at the Africanos and Tangelo restaurants. Both were absolutely superb.
I was in an SUV but the roads in and around the park are perfectly good enough for even the lowest of vehicles.
The local supermarket is great for those in self-catering accommodation.

I have visited Addo on many occasions (my third in the last six months) and it is never the same. vegetation changes by season, certain species are more visible than others and of course the elephant will always be there to see but not always in large herds.
Birding is always good but more so in the hot months.
The park is of such a size that you can always plan to get back to the picnic site, Jack's in time for lunch or tea. There are excellent ablution facilities, shaded picnic sites but no shop or restaurant which can be found at Addo main camp.

We can’t get enough of the Elephant Park and we’re loving the Safari’s at Schotia. Zip lining at Adrenaline is also one of our favourites. We are living 4 hours away from Addo, so most of the time we are coming for the weekend ( Two nights) . It’s always too short…
The area "Addo" is not really nice, but there are nice places to stay.

Addo Elephant National Park was nice.
Addo Elephant National Park was nice. We saw tons of elephants, zebras, and other resident animals native to this area in the park. Probably best to spend one night in accommodations in or near the national park and then the other night in one of the game reserves near the park.
The view from the mountains is amazing. There is a nice pool and relaxing area. We had a dinner also with this view. The rooms are pretty, all made us to feel good!! We had a small Kia Picanto rental car, very small one. Luckily it was not rainy season, so it was no problem to go up with this car, we had to drive slow and carefully and all was fine!!! The hotel is not far from Addo National Park, so before heading there we made a 2 hour driving from the northern entrance of the park and we saw many elephants and other animals.
Very pleasant and quiet surroundings. Lovely evening views of the sunset. Hosts were very attentive to our requirements, professional, responsive, informative and friendly without being intrusive. Accommodation was spacious, comfortable and really well equipped. Not far from Addo Elephant Park with easy drive to main gate. If we are in the area again this would certainly be our preferred choice.
We loved our stay, the food was amazing. we did breakfast and dinner and the lady's in the kitchen did an exceptional job. The rooms were very nice and had a great view of there property and they had wood by the firepit for us and the room was clean and well equipped. It is only about a 25 minute drive to the north entrance of Addo elephant park which was very nice. We loved out stay.
We used the self catering option so never had breakfast. The rooms were clean and beds comfy. Its the second time we have stayed and love the setting and beautiful gardens and cute little surprises in the garden. A swim in the pool was a real treat and cool down after a day at Addo park. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The owners are warm and welcoming and make you feel at home.
The location of the Avoca River Cabins and its proximity to the Addo Elephant Park is brilliant. The view from Uncle Townies where we stayed, overlooked the citrus groves and it was awesome. Breakfast was great, and was at another well laid out venue. Although this is a working farm there was no noise from implements being used. We will definitely return to explore the area more.
Beautiful Guesthouse with a wonderful garden, perfect for a Addo Elephant Park visit.
We loved the breakfast. The host family was so helpful and caring. We’d recommend staying at Gerald’s when visiting this area.
Make sure, to follow the directions at Gerald’s website when coming from Port Elizabeth Airport or from anywhere else to the guest house. Don’t rely on Google maps.
Perfect stay! Very nice staff and lots of animals to see already on the way to the guest house. There is a pivate road through the Addo Park if you arrive by car. Stellenhof was sharing the direction upon booking. There are even game drives organizes by Stellenhof at reasonable prices which made our stay relaxed and exciting at the same time.
Peace and quiet, exactly what was needed to unwind and forget about work and everyday life. The location is amazing, clean and everything and more is available for a great self catering getaway. We really enjoyed our stay and could not have asked for anything better. Nicky, the host is amazing and very accommodating. Will be back for sure !!!
We had a wonderful 2 night stay here.
Great value, not far from Addo elephant park. We booked a safari with Crisscross and the were amazing too.
Evening meals were cooked fresh and reasonably priced. Super pool area to to relax after a hot day on safari Would definitely recommend a stay here.
Staff were so friendly and polite
Rooms very spacious, nicely decorated, good sanitary facilities, comfortable beds. Communal kitchen (e.g. for own breakfast) very well equipped. Good price-quality. Close to the entrance of Addo Game Park, Superspar (for self catering) and Wildlife Tangelo Restaurant with great food and superb staff.
The meals were excellent, the place is idyllic with some amazing views over the Addo Elephant Park, and we really enjoyed hiking the Porcupine Trail on the property and seeing some Sable antelope close up. Overall, the staff, service and facilities were excellent.
The place is just amazing and situated perfectly. Not too far from Addo elephant park. The bungalows are very spacious and the interior is also modern. It has got everything you need inside. The little zoo you have is just great. Will definitely be coming back.
We stayed for 2 nights as wanted to visit Addo Elephant National Park. The hotel was wonderful. The room was lovely, very clean and spacious and had views overlooking an area where springboks roamed freely. Staff were all lovely. Would highly recommend.
Perfect place near Addo National Park. Very stylish cabanas, a lot of facilities, nice outdoor area of the hotel. Totally worth it. Haven't tried the breakfast, but the restaurant looked very promising.
The location was perfect for visiting Addo Elephant Park. Secure location with nice garden grounds. A nice restaurant on the premises. The room was nicely appointed in African theme.
Very welcoming and friendly staff (even though we arrived on a super short notice).
The room was spacious and clean and the location is convenient for Addo Park travelers.
