The beds were actually comfortable (unlike the hard ones at many places), which was a huge plus. I had a great night’s sleep!! The view was beautiful and the room had everything we needed. Room service was friendly and helpful.

Late check in at 11pm was convenient and communication was good at first. Parking was close & right in front of the room. Entered the room, smelled like an ashtray. All we wanted was a decent place to sleep & Immediately saw a cockroach on the wardrobe and on the wall. I was too grossed out & could not bring myself to sleep in the room, so i literally slept in my car. I was able to contact booking.com customer service since that's who i booked the room through, i was able to speak to someone promptly and they said they would contact the hotel themselves to request a refund of some sort. I also tried to contact management first thing in the morning but apparently reception does not open until 2pm, that's helpful! Weird hours for a front desk. Never got a refund or even a partial refund and never even received a response from management and booking.com never received a response from them either.
Booking.com was good they did the right thing & sent me a partial refund on their own dime since the hotel did not take responsibility.
The water pressure in the shower was actually really great, i figured i should try to at least get my money's worth if i couldn't even sleep in the room due to it being infested with cockroaches. but guess what? there were NO towels in the room, not one. I was glad i conveniently had towels in the vehicle i had because i was on a road trip!
I recommend this hotel if you like paying money to sleep with cockroaches. Yuck.

Gladstone is a great commercial and industrial hub and there are plenty of attractions to visit.
Doing your own exploring is the way to go here as if you have a rental car or motorhome there are short excursions you can make easily within 1 day.
Nice eateries, clubs, pubs, or malls to shop for your own tastes.
If you are looking for luxury prpbably wouldn't suit but for having a laid back no hassle holiday Gladstone is great.

Gladstone is an industrial town, but they have lots of facilities along East Shores particularly for families. There is a range of things to do with places like Tannum Sands a short drive. There are a range of food options to suit all tastes within the city centre.

On the first night we arrived after a 6.5hr drive and advised we could eat at the Oakes, so why not! The Oakes and Vine Restaurant dinner was 4.9/5 compliments to the chef and crew. Hadn't eaten all day but that Red emperor was cooked to perfection and my husbands T-bone was perfect med-rare and soft. It was great to see that Gladstone was really such a family friendly place, given the parks, marina area with bbq's and generally people just out and about. The cleanliness of the town itself was immaculate as were the parks so council are doing a great job. Went to get a gift as it was kind of last minute trip and found what I wanted as the shopping centre had everything we could have asked for. Thanks Happyrock for a great weekend!

Gladstone is an interesting town.
Gladstone is an interesting town. It is quite big and well laid out. We went to the lookout and found it very interesting. The foreshore around the marina and the park at the marina are beautiful.

There is basically nothing to do in Gladstone.
There is basically nothing to do in Gladstone. We stopped here overnight while coaching up the coast and wished we didn’t stop. Struggled to find activities to do while killing time. Also didn’t feel very safe as travellers here.
Whilst being an older style Rydges, It was very clean and the twin room was very spacious. The beds are sooo comfortable. We had a great harbour view and the staff were wonderful. It’s in a great area, walking distance to clubs, hotels and the East shores area. Also a Thai and Phillipino restaurant right next door. Already planning my next stay there!
Marvellous accommodation in central Gladstone, close to restaurants, bars and shops - and only a short drive from two major retail complexes. Clean, comfortable room with excellent amenities (including a washing machine and dryer). Great views from our 9th floor room. Pleasant, friendly staff. Excellent value.
We stayed here for 4 days. On check in the staff were very friendly. The chip on our bankcard didn't work so the hosts gave us a tip... and it worked. 😂 loved our room which was upstairs, it was quiet and comfortable. When visiting Gladstone again we will definitely book here. Great value for money.
The location was excellent and the view was spectacular. Cameron was so very helpful with everything we needed especially with vehicle parking. Having the hotel next door for meals was an added bonus and their meals were great. The whole complex was very quite and clean.
Good location, close to supermarkets, close to the airport, good hygiene, large and comfortable rooms, good service at the front desk, I asked them to call a cab for me to go to the place I want to go, very satisfied, next time I come to Gladstone will book this hotel
Clean and spacious and good location for our needs (close to harbour). The manager went out if his way to help us when we had a problem with non arrival of our baggage on our flight to Gladstone. The shuttle service to the Heron Island ferry was appreciated.
It’s a modern 4 bedded small home with one living space. We had 3 generations staying and had a room for everyone. There was a full size kitchen and a bath. It was central to Gladstone and the family celebrations we were attending at New Auckland.
Location, love the larger frig than most hotels offer, comfy recliner, lovely helpful receptionist. Was refreshing change from the other more hotels. Exceeded expectations for the price!! Definite recommendation
Good location for birdwatching.
A little far from downtown. Taxi service from the hotel was great - staff was very helpful in calling, but taxis to the hotel difficult to catch downtown.
Stayed here many times now and would not stay anywhere else in Gladstone .The Hotel is right there and you can walk into the top rated restaurant under a covered walkway from your room.
Close proximity to central Gladstone and East Shores. Will also be close to the new Wards Brewery being built in Auckland St.
Also, peaceful location with view out to the islands...
Travel to Gladstone for business and always stay at The Oaks. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are always clean and tidy with all the facilities I require.
best value for money hotel I’ve stayed in, in a while. half the price of everywhere else and it’s the nicest cheap hotel around. definitely staying here again.
