La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes.
La Paz is a big city with a lot of people and many homes. It has a high altitude, recommend altitude pills. The city has varying heights, for instance you are going up and down a mountain to get to the other side of the city. When you are on top you can see the bowl with many many houses. There is a cable car to take you from the bottom of the mountain and one neighborhood to the top of the mountain to another neighborhood. There are several beautiful landscapes in La Paz. Valley of the moon, valley of the souls, etc... There is also a lot of shopping in the city.

An authentic South American large city still evolving.
An authentic South American large city still evolving. Everywhere you go you realized this is not for tourists, this is really a nation which has its own identity and you feel it in everything. If you don't speak Spanish then get ready to learn. People very friendly, and living history everywhere. Leave a day for the 2 hour trip to the jungle area for the La Senda Verde animal rescue area.

La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind!
La Paz: A 3-day whirlwind! Explored history on a city tour, felt the passion of a football match, embraced culture in El Alto markets, conquered fear on Death Road, and soared above in the teleférico. Bolivia's heart revealed in a compact, unforgettable adventure.

La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes.
La Paz is in a unique situation, surrounded by the Andes. Its cable car transport system is both practical and a spectacular treat for tourists. It is far better to use this than to use ground transport; the roads in the city are chaotic. The people are friendly and helpful, there are very good restaurants. From La Paz a traveller has access to amazing places to visit, from Lake Titicaca, at over 4000 metres above sea level, to the Yungas, which form part of the Amazonian basin forest system. You have to be careful to have a heart and blood-pressure check before visiting La Paz, as its altitude can be stressful for anyone with a heart condition. But I have been there on a number of occasions, and find it fascinating. The street life and the many local gifts based on alpaca and llama wool are two special features.

Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow...
Unique setting of the city with striking views and snow covered Illimany on the background. We had one day and spent it driving cable cars and celebrating St. John in the park.

Excellent location - felt safe and located nearby a green Teleférico station. Stylish and comfortable interiors. Good showcase of Bolivian inspired art. Great breakfast. The staff were outstanding - particular thanks to reception staff who went above and beyond for any requests or needs. They were well informed and helpful in terms of activity and travel advice. One of us was unwell during our stay and when we approached reception for help they promptly put us in contact with a medical professional.
great and very kind, helpful staff/family whi run thus hotel. they picked us uo at the airport, then provided all necessary tips for the whole stay in La Paz. we felt very great, room was clean, comfortable and breakfast was home made and delicious. it is a bit far from the city center, howevee you will enjoy peaceful atmosphere at nights and you can get a taxi to move around city which is cheap. we fully recommend this place for your stay in la paz.
Everything about La Casona was excellent. It is one of the coolest, most beautiful hotels I've stayed in in South America. Every corner of the hotel is unique. Having breakfast in the copola is amazing and there are plenty of options. The staff went above and beyond for us, and stored our bags while we went on a few overnight trips. Extra plus was having a driver waiting to pick us up at the airport after going through the immigration chaos at 3am.
Ambiance: Stepping into the Patio de Piedra is like stepping back in time. This beautifully restored colonial house boasts character and charm, with its carved wooden details and a central courtyard. It feels more like a luxurious home than a hotel.
Overall: If you're looking for a unique and charming place to stay in La Paz, with a touch of history and excellent service, the Patio de Piedra Hotel Boutique is a perfect choice.
Hotel Sagarnaga was a great place to stay. Centrally located in the old part of town, the hotel was mere minutes of walking from nearby attractions, cafes and restaurants.
Depending on the room, depended on your view, the hotel also had a great breakfast and an onsite masseuse.
We stayed a number of times during our trip to Bolivia, the rooms were always clean and the staff were exceedingly helpful. I would stay again.
The staff here was excellent. They were very attentive for my short stay. Since I was leaving early morning for my flight I was going to miss breakfast. Without asking they offered me a bagged breakfast to take with me. They also provided me with a wake up call to ensure I did not over sleep. The building is beautiful and the rooms are clean and decorated with traditional Bolivian decor. Very lovely place to stay
The hotel is a boutique hotel so it has a super nice decoration and structure.
Our room was super spacious (the staff was kind enough and gave us a room upgrade). It has a good cleaning and a heater for the colder days.
We are traveling by motorcycle and the staff was super kind and let us park the bike inside the hotel at the backyard.
In general is a very good hotel for the Bolívia standards.
Came back several times during my 3-weeks Bolivia bicycle trip. Always a great experience and a very supportive crew. Helped me to organise transportation, gave me storage room for my baggage and offered great breakfast. Family run, authentic styled hotel, always hot water and heating, what is not a given in Bolivia. Central located, only 2-minutes walk to the main square. Highly recommended.
The owner was kind enough to allow me to check-in at around 5am in the morning which was really kind after an early flight into La Paz. The hostel is close to the bus station to take buses to different cities in Bolivia. The hostel has cats which is a bonus. Breakfast was okay. The interior of the building is lovely. Rooftop views of the city.
my first review was a mistake since I was thinking of the other hotel, I like the hotel because of the location which is really in the heart of La Paz and the hotel itself is like a museum. an old colonial building where the owner was able to display old stuff from the past. it is abut 30 min from the airport depending on the traffic
First normal European breakfast in Bolivia after 1 week of traveling. There is all what you need in self service arrangement. Although no heating in the room nor restaurant area, everything was very good furnished and clean. Hot water in the shower is very important in Bolivia, as no hotel has it, except this one, so thumbs up :)!
It was my last night in Bolivia And i appreciated that I could meet my friends for goodbyes at the restaurant for a drink. And to have a dinner at my room. I had been to the hotel before and I liked the location and the warm showers and friendly staff. So i came back
The breakfast was in the restaurant at the top of the hotel with picture windows all around showing a gorgeous view of the city and the mountains. The breakfast was perfect, the coffee made to order and some of the best I've had in Bolivia.
I've never been in such a good hostel, actually you only need to travel to La Paz Bolivia tobe in wild rover and for your experience be more awesome you have to search Tara and Ramiro, the best in the city I cannot believe how fun they are
The hotel staff is amazingly friendly and helpful to hotel guests. The breakfast is amazing, and the rooms are well-maintained, clean, and comfortable. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Naira if you're visiting La Paz, Bolivia!
Breakfast was a "standard Bolivian hotel breakfast"; fruit, fruit juices, various types of bread and buns, cheese, lumcheon meat, coffee. All of reasonable standard, fruit very good. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is unbeatable right on Linares street, close to the main sights of downtown La Paz as well to the Teleferico. Our room was large enough for two adults and clean.
Breakfast was way better than anywhere else in Bolivia, amazing stay, but most of all the staff was the nicest and most helpful I have seen in my travelling. Absolutely deserves all the best ratings.
