The owner was very nice but there was no breakfast and the grounds looked like it was not being taken care of quite as much as I would have expected. The bathtub was amazing and my room was comfortable.

The location was easy to find, check in was quick and simple and the staff was friendly. The cabin was clean and neat, and what they said would be supplied was there, and replenished on a daily basis. The staff was quick to help us out when we locked ourselves out of the cabin at 7:30 in the morning. : ), and the next day when we lost power. (This was our doings) The staff were great for giving suggestions on places to visit, this was awesome because this was a spontaneous road trip.
Situated on a hill and overlooking the lake, The Island Inn is conveniently located within 500 metres from shops, restaurants and Ingonish Beach.

Really did not expect to live this place so much, it was like a little secret haven. The location and walks round the bay were amazing and on the door step. We loved playing games at night and Tracey and Mike were great hosts. Make sure you ask for Mike's tips sheet, it's really funny and has amazing tips on the trail. (Thanks Mike we would of missed some of the best bits without this).
It is gorgeous but even more remote than I realized.
It is gorgeous but even more remote than I realized. Options for food and bathrooms are few and far between and have limited operating hours. Plan accordingly and it will be perfect!
The Dancing Moose and the Clucking Hen were both terrific with the offerings and the quality of the food.

We had a restaurant right at our overnight destination open breakfast and lunch which was just off the Cabot Trail plus there was a convenience stop just down the street with many items from clothing to snacks.
