Badgers Mount Hotel, hotel in Earl Shilton

Set in one and a half acres of ground overlooking the Leicestershire countryside, this hotel has a south-facing patio so you can relax outside in warmer weather.

The food was DIVINE - we didn't feel the need to go out for lunch on a single night that we stayed there. We assume they must get locals eating there too - I know I would if I loved nearby. The staff were friendly, helpful, and informative. There was a bit of confusion regarding our rooms (I'd recommend calling them directly instead of booking through booking.com, it makes amendments FAR easier), but the staff member I spoke to called me back after about 15 minutes to inform me that everything was sorted. Minimal fuss! The rooms could maybe do with a bit of updating, (I'm not sure if they're in the process of doing this already?) but they were perfectly comfortable and I slept like a baby.

    This hotel should be condemned!

This hotel should be condemned! We had no curtains, sheets on bed did not fit, drawers falling apart, sink dirty with old soap and toothpaste splatters on tap, no toilet roll, our friends room had sink full of dirty water and full of dead flies, the only way not of the hotel is down stairwell, no access or help for anyone unsteady on there legs or disabled. Dining room looked like a dumping ground for staff clothing. No organisation over where keys were, or even if the key worked in the door. Budget hotel but really even those standards were very very low. How booking.com can show photos taken is beyond, just look on trip advisor !!!

    Beautiful countryside walks.

Beautiful countryside walks. Stones Cove scuba diving just a stone throw away. Dinner at the hotel was exceptional, especially the fillet steak… I would like to stay again in the Field View cottage which has a hot tub too. I would also like to hire the whole place for a private family party.

Very small village which is quite run down.

Very small village which is quite run down. However it is ideally placed for Stoney Cove Scuba diving facility. Not much options for food unless you like takeaway or Indian. Hinckley town 10 mins away has lots of food and entertainment options.

The hotel is not secure. The reception staff gave us a telling off for arriving at 11.30pm, even though we had only booked it an hour before! They had 2 large dogs with them, which were intimidating. The hotel was dirty: there was an old crisp packet under my mattress and dust everywhere. There was little to no security as downstairs was not locked and the main door left open. Reception is only open for a few hours at night and so no one is there to help you if needed. It felt like a youth hostel not a hotel.

The hotel gave a courtesy call an hour before the end of check in, to ensure everything was ok. The room was perfect for what I needed/expected. Had plenty of tea/coffee and water. Shower pressure was great. Lots of parking available. Bed was firm, good bedding/pillows

Warm greeting at reception. We did not eat breakfast now dinner at the hotel but only because of our tight schedule. The dining room looked comfortable and nicely laid out though.

What a gem! Small, friendly hotel in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside. The small open air swimming pool was amazing to use in the heatwave. Excellent dinner.
