I never imagined a major town in South Wales could be so run down. I checked out of the accomodation a day early and found myself in the High Street around 0830. I had an hour or so here before my train out of town and I saw nothing of interest to a visitor.

First time in Wales for me.
First time in Wales for me. Everywhere we went met with friendly people. Even the girl in Next chatted while serving me and laughed with me about my day.Family meal (14 of us) at TGF. Made welcome and served with a smile all evening.
Coffee shops also had staff interested in our stories.
Pity we live in Perth with 8 hour drive as liked people and places and a return trip maybe when newlyweds have family

The room was good, the pool was out of commission which spoiled the weekend because that made the jacuzzi impossible to gain entrance to due to the amount of people being let down on the pool. Food was perfect.

There is a lot to like about Newport and the surrounding countryside. My favourite feature is without doubt the famous 'Transporter Bridge'. You have the choice of numerous venues for both Rugby and Football matches and a great selection of local Parkruns.
Location perfect for the town (3 mins walk), Roman sites and museum (10 mins walk), and a bus-stop outside the hotel to get to/from Newport. (Although, taxis also easy to get.) The property has recently been refurbished. A bit odd having the wash-basin and shower cubicle in the room rather than ensuite, but not a problem. Friendly staff. Breakfast choice is cereal and full English, or cereal and full English - which suited me, but some might find the choice limited.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean room on the ninth floor with a grand view of the river and Newport town. Our query about the broken bedside lamp was dealt with straight away. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable three nights including a good, hot shower and king sized bed. Parking was convenient in a multi storey next door which was locked overnight.
The hotel is right at the centre of Newport, staff are very friendly, they went the extra mile to make us happy. check in was very quick, wifi is fast. rooms are super clean, beds are comfy, we had a good night sleep. Breakfast this morning was English breakfast buffet and was just on point. price was very reasonable. highly recommended.
Walls had dirty marks, cracks in the bathroom sink the boulder cushion on the bed had a stain, balcony was covered in algae, breakfast was nothing like it was 10yrs ago , was like a premier Inn, standards have definitely gone down here to point we won't ever come back, better valued hotels with a wow factor on the market now ,
The location of the hotel is great - across from the train station but also just off Newport High Street so everything is convenient to the hotel. The staff were really friendly and welcoming, the room was really nice - the bed was very very comfy so I got a few great nights sleep even though I was away from my own bed!
We stayed Sunday night to break up the long drive from East Yorkshire to our holiday lodge accommodation on the south Wales coast (Laugharne)
Modern, clean, cosmopolitan, friendly staff, good value
Lovely 3rd floor outdoor seating
Car park - short walk to hotel entrance
Nice breakfast
Great value
The Ibis Newport hotel was very clean and accessible. it was in a good location close to Cardiff and Cwmbran. However, I found the toilet too low for my mobility, the disabled parking was not accessible and the breakfast was poor. The staff were however friendly which was a positive.
The Priory Hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the room is beautiful finished to a high standard, just perfect. Restaurant is very unique where you choose your fresh food to order, you must book a table, very busy.
The location of the hotel is only a short walk away into the town itself just over the Newport Bridge, the surrounding area is also quiet so you don't get any disturbances to your stay.
Fantastic resort hotel with loads of facilities. We stayed in a cosy room in the older part of the hotel. Lovely place to get away from it all.
Plenty of choice at mealtimes.
The room was lovely, only negative was the stinky shower curtain. Staff were lovely. Food was delicious. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. I will definitely come back :)
Nice hotel close to Newport Station. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast and Evening meal cooked fresh and was good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
