This place resembles an English bar in a good sense. It is very comfy, with very friendly staff. The room wasn't large but had everything needed. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast and the food in general were very good and tasty. The hotel is close to EGHP Popham.

It was very clean, and each day the room was tidied to great standard. The staff at reception were always lovely, pleasant, kind and helpful. They were always welcoming no matter the time of the day/evening. The location near the train station makes it an ideal spot too!

The evening meal was very good for you and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We did not stay for breakfast though sadly.

We loved everything. The food at the breakfast buffet and the bar (we had dinner there the first night and the sandwiches are TASTY), the room was clean and the bed comfortable. And the staff was super helpful and nice. We will totally repeat if we go again to Basingstoke in the future.

Ateugglws to get a table in the restaurant.
Ateugglws to get a table in the restaurant. The food was good but we had to sit near an open door, which was draughty. The bathroom was a bit tired but adequate. The bed was rock hard. I was told the mattress was brand new. Not convinced. Still it was cheap, so you can't expect luxury. We didn't get a good night's sleep due to other patrons deciding to have a conversation outside our room at midnight, and then leaving in the early hours noisily. But rhat is not the hotel's fault.

Very relaxed atmosphere.
Very relaxed atmosphere. It was more akin to staying in a friends house rather than a hotel. Very friendly owners. Good pub for evening meal [Sun Inn] within walking distance albeit alongside the main A30. Hotel on main A30. not actually in village. Will certainly stay there again.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The restaurant offers a wide choice and the food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner. We were late for breakfast on our final morning, forgetting it ends at 9am during the week, but the restaurant manager was still able to provide a tasty continental selection.
The whole experience was great. Some family joined us in the evening (they didn't like their hotel!) and we enjoyed a fabulous meal at the Wheatsheaf. So much so, that the next day, after a trip out, we returned to have our meal. The staff were all friendly and helpful, which is always a bonus to us when we're away.
Very pleasant staff, room was clean and comfortable. The meal in the restaurant was very nice, breakfast was lovely too. We were due to come in May but my son broke his elbow two days before coming, the hotel was very kind and re-booked our trip for a later date at no additional cost.

The hotel is dated, no doubt, but still not bad for the price and what's most important - the rooms are very clean.
And the breakfasts are to absolutely die for! For that reason alone I will definitely come again when on the way.
All the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were friendly and professional, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and so reasonably priced.
3rd time I stayed in this hotel. Do you really need more of a recommendation?
Very well priced for what you get. Really helpful staff. Very clean room. Cooked breakfast to die for.
The hotel was a very convenient overnight stop for trip to the south-west. The bar/restaurant was great for relaxing after a long drive. Staff were friendly & breakfast was good.
