Young lady on reception was very friendly and helpful was asked if we wanted breakfast in morning to which we replied yes payed the money .were checked in given our room key card went up to room place key card in slot , someone was already in room, went back down to reception , told the young girl she called someone and asked them why it was saying it was free . Was given another room , when I got to room door was open when I went to lose door it wouldn't close , back down to reception to complain the young girl called mateniance , seems the door was on lock , was left to check in , about 2_3 hours after checking in we decided to have a meal in the restaurant, arrived at restaurant it was not open , went to reception and was told it closed but we can order to have in room in which we did . When food arrived I was charged a service charge in which I was not told about this also we were told we were intilted to 20%of food if we ordered this was not taken off Food was not really that great , small portions and not very hot , but we ate it as we were hungry . When we went shower later in evening the shower head was disgusting , we showered but the water went everywhere it was like a swimming pool in the bathroom . Bed was ok but on turning in bed you could fill the springs , pillows were flat , and lumpy and awful. Windows were full of mould around the seals , walls looked damp , wall lights looked they should of had strings to pull on but there were none . Was told bya friends that during COVID it was used to house homeless and others Will not book this hotel again Reception is very posh , rooms need Refurb

Prince Of Wales Hotel, hotel in Rufford

With its landscaped grounds and Victorian features, the Prince Of Wales Hotel is a 10-minute walk to Southport Train Station and to the beach. Wi-Fi is free in public areas.

The architecture of the hotel is amazing Olivia at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Great outdoor sitting area too with parking on site. The hotel has great potential even though Southport is known for a more senior majority clientele. The location is absolutely amazing, in the heart of Southport on Lord.St and short walking distance to kings garden. Lots of shops around, supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants very close to the hotel .

Lots to do and see in the immediate area and convenient for travelling further afield to other nearby places of interest. The Rufford Arms was an excellent place both to stay and to eat. Don't miss Rufford Old Hall and the narrowboat marina on the canal.

The gaggle of misogynistic men that propped up the bar since teatime that you had to squeeze past to enter the pub. I was so embarrassed that my young son had to listen to their sexist language whilst with me. The smell of cannabis was overwhelming and the staff, with the exception of the lady at breakfast, weren’t particularly helpful or friendly. Great sized room but the lock on the door was difficult to open.

The area was beautiful and we could have stayed longer and gone walking. The hotel room was quiet even though there were a lot of people staying. The room was very nice and clean. We enjoyed a drink when we arrived and the man in charge was very helpful and friendly. The meal in the evening was good and very reasonably priced as were the drinks. The breakfast was great all freshly cooked and no buffet style . The staff in the evening and at breakfast were professional but friendly and efficient.

Hotel was amazing.beautiful room but the only issue was we was on the ground floor. The people staying above us we could hear everything.down to peeing in the toilet Had no sleep for the 2 nights we stayed due to people banging about from 2am..heard tv ,arguing and walking up and down from 2am till 6am All guests was complaining about the same issue but was deemed funny by hotel management. Not funny when you have spent 5 hours travelling, ate tired and the ceiling has zero sound proofing.

Having stayed at the hotel numerous times before, we booked my mum in whilst we stayed in our motorhome. We ate dinner and breakfast in the pub and everything from the staff, quality of food and value was exceptional. Thank you to the lovely owners who went the extra mile with everything to make our stay an enjoyable one. It's in a great location for canal walks, cycle rides and beautiful countryside - cannot recommend it enough!
