The Inn is out in the country, all on it;s own and, from memory, about 5 miles from the town of Watchet. We never got to see the actual town as ,it was so busy , there was nowhere to park - especially with a Blue Badge.

The harbour and the steam train were the highlights of our stay. It wasn’t terribly touristy when we were there (just before the schools’ summer holidays), it was sunny and we found a very good cider pub (Pebbles Tavern) where we encountered an evening of shanty songs session with all the customers joining in the chorus. If you like walking, Exmoor isn’t far with Dunkery Beacon a popular attraction for a quick hike.

I knew Watchet as a day visitor, from many years ago, but I had not visited the town for over 15 years. Back then, I liked Watchet and its history, but it did feel a little tired and stuck in time. On my recent visit, the town was noticeably different and more active, particularly with the new East Quay development. I felt that the town had much more to offer. I will visit and stay again.

    What an amazing place.

What an amazing place. So much happening, including lots of live music, market on Wednesday and on Sunday sometimes. A community arts collective, including a bookshop, art gallery, some small independent retailers of pottery and other hand crafted products. A paper making workshop, and cafe/restaurant serving delicious, mainly vegetarian food. Most striking was the friendliness of the locals, across all ages - we were made to feel very welcome by everyone we met.

The pods are really just for sleeping in due to very limited facilities in them. They were opposite the quay, shops, etc, so when the rain pelted down all the stairs were a bit precarious in the wet. Nice not to have a TV, it did have a radio and most of us have tablets etc anyway. Signal fine in pods, dodgy in some local shops, l had to go to the post office for cash as twice in shops they couldn't get a signal! Watchet is compact and l spent the day there, l feel l have seen it all.

The location was perfect and secure. Ideal for three adults. Free parking close to the apartment very convenient. Watchet was a lovely town to stay. Brilliant pubs for food and drink. Great Fish and Chip shop (Mariners). Fantastic Wednesday market on harbour side. Two great museums, one covering the town history, and the other an interesting radio museum, both within walking distance of the town.

The caravan is virtually brand new. Plenty of space for 2, 6 people might find it a bit cramped on a wet day. Well equipped kitchen which made self catering easy. Good sized main bedroom. Bedrooms 2&3 are a little tight unless it's children using them. We used them as changing rooms and for our cases. The table and chairs on the decking is great, we had had evening dinner out there watching the sunset. All in all, this was a good base to explore this part of Somerset.

The rooms were comfortable but also creatively designed with some great attention to detail. Often even boutique hotels cut corners with the actual standard of fitments such as baths but Swaine House really does provide quality as well as style! Breakfast was great, Jason helpful and friendly and I liked having real coffee provided in my room instead of short cut instant!!

Quiet, good amount of space for two people, plenty of parking space,. All the kitchen equipment was new and included everything necessary for a short stay. Well placed for exploring the Somerset coast and nearby countryside. A good selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaway suppliers within easy reach, small supermarket, bank and filling station nearby.

Watchet is a really interesting and historic little harbour town. The property we stayed in couldn't have been in a better location. We were on a quiet street (Swain street) close to shops and just a few minutes walk away from the harbour, esplanade, steam railway station, boat museum, pubs and restaurants etc.
