The quality of the accommodation at the Horngarth is exceptional. Emma and Antony have really given a lot of thought to the extra touches that make a guest's stay memorable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation.
This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.
Set in a 17th-century building, this guest accommodation serves local, fresh seafood in its restaurant and has elegant rooms.

Historical building so great if you like that kind of thing (winding staircases, low ceilings etc, great staff and breakfast, very comfortable bed, clean bedsheets and towels.

Lots to do and see for a short stay. Some excellent restaurants and bars. Best fish and chips ever at restaurant above harbour. Cottage was located above harbour so steep descent down. Climb upto Abbey worth it though!
First time in Whitby so pleasantly surprised!

Fantastic shops, mostly very quirky and unusual rather than the normal high street rubbish and tourist tat. Lots to see and do from a variety of museums (never seen a baby lobster before!) to short trips out into the North Sea - complete with pirate! Fish and chips everywhere! Lovely interesting pop up markets. Easy parking. Train station smack bang in the middle of town. All easy walking distance providing you can cope with one or two steepish routes. Did one side of the river on one day and the other on day 2 - just enough to keep us busy for two full days. Highly recommend as an interesting getaway.

Been going to Whitby for years, always enjoy it.
Been going to Whitby for years, always enjoy it. There's plenty to do and see, the museum in Pannett Park is well worth a visit, but allow most of the day, it's got everything from dinosaur fossils to matchbox cars. The Abbey is dear for what it is, I went 60 years ago when it was free, I wouldn't pay to go in unless you're really interested in that stuff. However, across from the Abbey is Whitby brewery, so you can have a pint while sitting and looking at the Abbey. Much better option imo. A good place to eat is Trenchers fish restaurant and the Ship Inn is my favourite pub

A combination of a lot of things, the history, the beach, the pubs , the location... these are all good things. Wetherspoons and the little Angel pub are favourites of ours.
The negative are, things can be a little bit pricy. Not all the fish and chip shops are good.

A last minute trip to Whitby for Goth Weekend.
Absolutely fabulous and our lovely accommodation made it all the more worthwhile.
Beautiful fishing town, very friendly locals and lots of quirky shops and great places to eat.
Arrived early and was able to park the car so we could take advantage of a full day in Whitby. Arrived up at the room after lunch, we were given the code to the door a few days prior to arrival. our room was fab it had a big bath in the room and was surprised to see it also had a shower. Lots of little complimentary bits, such as tea, coffee, milk, cereal bar, biscuits, bottled water, cans of pop, orange juice and porridge, shower to gel and bubble bath. This is our second stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you again for a lovely stay
Breakfast was lovely there was plenty of choice , everything was fresh a cooked lovely , also various options and refills of tea and coffee , the service was first class , our room was amazing , the bed very comfortable, beautiful bath and shower facilities, everywhere very clean with fantastic attention to detail , within walking distant of whitby harbour or park n ride 5 mins away , the surrounding grounds have lovely views , lovely staff very attentive ,with welcoming and easy booking in and out of hotel
Greatocatio for peace and quiet, not far to Whitby itself. Room. Very nice, strange lumpy mattress. Great views of the garden and visiting deer coming for the fallen apples.
Restaurant food OK messed up food order sides arrivedcafter mains. Wine very over priced for a standard sauvignon. Charlie waitress very friendly but made a mistake and I was over charged £80. Hotel quickly resolved on calling them. Hopefully a one off. Didn't visit the spa but looked good in the broucher.
I booked for 2 nights for a solo birthday treat at this hotel based in a pub and was so impressed! My room was up a very unprepossesing flight of narrow stairs those with mobility problems may have a problem) and let myself into an absolute surprise of room! Well decorated, well presented, absolutely comfortable, and sparkling clean. Fabulous views over Whitby harbour. I booked bed and breakfast with my room, and each morning, I had an amazing, freshly cooked breakfast.
Swales Cottage is in a great location. Property was really clean on arrival. Lots of fresh towels provided. Kitchen equipment surpassed expectations. Lots of antibac/cleaning products/sanitiser in every room.
Parking space is big enough to accomodate a large 4x4 which was something we were concerned about prior to arrival as parking can be tight in and around Whitby.
Great communication throughout from the host.
The Overdale was very clean.
There was a big attention to detail in how the room was presented; it's decor fitted the Victorian feel of the house
so all worked really well.
We had a lovely few days in Whitby which part of it, was down to our comfortable & clean accomodation.
It was lovely to talk to Jane our host, she was very informative re.places to go in Whitby.
Great to have a parking space too.
Beautiful apartment with original wooden floors sash bay windows and plenty of space for 4 adults and a couple of little dogs, host even left some milk, tea and coffee for our arrival. Parking is a bit of a nightmare expected really in a busy seaside resort with parking restrictions, but there is plenty of space a 10 min walk away. Would 100% stay again if I was in whitby thank you
It was in a very good position with the Whitby bus that stopped just outside that you can hop on and off. You can come and go as you please.
We had a glitch with our room code and couldn't get in I emailed the manager and within 5-10 minutes he was on the phone to me apologizing and giving me an emergency code to use - great customer service.
I slept really well.
Room was spacious, mattress in bed was first class - want one at home. Although did not have a sea view room was great - even near reception etc we were not disturbed. Parking on forecourt or on street opposite with parking voucher supplied by hotel. Breakfast was very good! Staff very accommodating! Good location for visiting Whitby.
The breakfast was excellent, especially the wonderful black pudding. The hotel was situated in a quiet area with parking, a must for Whitby. It was an easy short walk into the centre. Paula was so welcoming with tea and delicious home made fruit cake on our arrival. As dog lovers, we loved Denzil, the very well behaved Labradoodle.
From the hotel quality bed to the modern bathroom and interesting decor alongside the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts and the view of the Abbey make this the perfect place to stay for Whitby, Robin Hoods Bat and the North Yorkshire Moors.
Breakfast was perfect, room was clean, spacious and had exceptional views, location fantastic, hosts welcoming and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Whitby. Perfect weekend break.
Perfect location. Very clean and modern. Comfortable. Difficult to find any drawbacks. Hassle free enjoyable stay in the heart of Whitby. Just a few doors down from where Bram Stoker put pen to paper.
Lovely clean hotel, well kitted it rooms, easy check in. On road parking via a scratchcard worked well as we got a space the top of the road. Breakfast was ample and staff were very friendly.
Such a lovely place to stay the night, the room was spotless and the facilities were amazing! Breakfast was yummy and set us right up for our day in whitby. Would definitely revisit
