Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit.
Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit. This time we went to Kayts and saw what was left of the old Fort as well as Hammond Hiel across the water. Went to Point Pedro as well...It was a pity that there was a postbox at the northern most point of Sri Lanka - but no postcards or stamps!!! Seeing flamingos and other migrants across from the causeway to Kayts was a bonus. Jaffna was not as I expected .
Jaffna was not as I expected . Staying where I did you really needed your own transportation. I tried unsuccessfully to rent a bike ,and was told by Click hire place they were booked out for a few days ,I wondered about this as I hardly saw any other tourists ,and other companies didn’t return calls . Fort was really disappointing compared to Galle ,and they charge admission ! Restaurants recommended by lonely planet good , but Mangos has closed ,the Malaya is very good ,as is Akshatai ,but avoid Green Grass ,it’s horrible ,I couldn’t imagine staying there ! Very different to Colombo and other suburbs, but Jaffna has its own unique vibe. Pretty laid back I would say. The locals are friendly, but communicating with them could be a little challenging unless you spoke Tamil. Plenty of things to see and many different foods to try.

Its a quiet village with less population. Nice for a quiet getaway. Small and cosy town. Food is good and friendly people. Temples are good to visit too. The trip to Nainativu is unsafe. Boats were overloaded and I was afraid of a stampede because of the crowd. Other than that, everything else was a good experience for me.singam - 10Scored 10

Takes two days to travel around all the attractions, first day travel the east from Jaffna town with a rented vehicle which is much cheaper than the other areas. Nagadeepa temple and Nagamma kovil was most attracted places to visit in Jaffana along with Jaffna Fort and Library and Museum. Although the Road to Nagadeepa has to be repaired . The City and Roads are clean and the people are very kind

Their cooking is absolutely delicious - a delight to get enjoyed. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I had left my medicines in Colombo and Berty took me I to the pharmacy to have the replaced. Their ho e is situated in a very quiet area and you wake to the sound of a variety of birds. A very enjoyable and comfortable stay and I will definitely stay there again when I next return to Jaffna

They booked our bus from Colombo to Jaffna which was a huge help, and they waited up until 4 am for us to arrive. We had only booked the place for the following night so they charged us half a day. The train line behind the house was not disturbing as trains do not operate during night. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Dilan is also owner of D'Villa Garden House. If you travel to Jaffna by train it is much more easier to reach by a tuk tuk. I was traveling to experience the Nallur feast 2023 and had a great time due to the Inns' location mainly. Apart from that the staff is very helpful and friendly. Really worth the price. I recommend it 👌
