The setting was totally picturesque with views out over mountains and forests. The extra touches of recliner beds so you could get comfortable inside to watch the northern lights from the glass roof, and lots of choice of hot drink pods for the machine. They had really useful information inside to on local places to eat if you didn’t want to eat on site too.
Then the hot tub was utterly define, and kept at temperature so you could you use whenever you felt the need

The place is really amazing. It’s obviously quite expensive, and there are just the two restaurants. But it’s all worth it for the amazing location, excursions and pleasantness.

Lovely cute place which is not too commercial.
Lovely cute place which is not too commercial. Great place to do a northern light run, Go for a smaller tour size of 7-8 ppl instead of 50 sized. First its very safe even if you are going solo and also you have a more personal discussion with the group and also much more personalized attention to see the stars and the northern lights.

I came for the museums and some quiet relaxation, and got plenty of that! Lovely town with good food and lovely people. The weather in June was grand... nice during the day, cooler at night. A fan was all I needed to be cool enough to sleep. The local taxi company got me around town with ease, though their is a bus I never tried out. I sadly do not speak any Norwegian, and I was able to get around with ease.

Alta is a town that is difficult to reach in winter, so it is good to make reservations as late as possible to get a refund without penalty. Accommodation owners and tour operators will take your money and not refund you even if you prove that you didn't arrive in Alta due to weather (cancelled planes or planes that were unable to land).

Be sure to p pick the right time of year.
Be sure to p pick the right time of year. The summer season is very short and several museums and other places close at the end of August. September we found to be relatively fine as well as October. We found that some places were closed whether this was because of the end of season or still related to Covid is/was uncertain.
Alta Museum and its rock drawings and other Sami history is very interesting and informative. The Northern Lights (Nordlys) Cathedral stands dominant in the centre of town and well worth a visit. Obviously at this particular tie of year the Northern Lights are always a possibility.

There are many grocery shops some of which are very large.
There are many grocery shops some of which are very large. We could find gluten free food
The views of the mountains and bay are very nice when it’s sunny
The rock carvings museum is definitely a place to visit
I recommend the Vanvitting Grill for the excellent raindeer burger with strawberry sauce
Johnny was amazing! He thought of every little thing to make us enjoy our stay. The cabin was beautiful, and we saw a spectacular Northern lights show. The sleigh ride was perfect....I love the Norweigen Fjord horse...Timion. We were able to get close and pet him. Everything about the stay was exceptional, hot tub, homemade breakfast, nature hikes...absolutely competes with the Grande Hotel, Oslo. Flatmoen Natur has better service by far! Can't wait to come back!
Bed was very big and comfy, bathroom was very clean. The breakfast was great, as always when staying at a Scandic hotel. They had lotd of options, including gluten free and vegetarian, vegan and raw vegan. Fresh products, there were lots of tables so even when most people came to eat, you didn't feel crowded. We had to check out very early in the morning, so they were kind to provide a breakfast bag (you have to ask the night before).
We had an all around fantastic stay. Staff was really nice and proactive to make you feel at home.
The included breakfast and the meals we ordered were delicious.
Certainly a fantastic experience if you're looking for something other than the usual hotel room.
And as luck has had it the weather allowed us to see a beautiful aurora right there and then.
Visit end Sep 23. One of my top 3 hotels out of over 30 I stayed at during my 5 week trip in Norway. Beautiful location with exceptional rooms, spaces and the most helpful and friendly staff out of all the places I stayed. Amazing food and ambiance. Contemporary and eclectic. Will definitely be back!
Beautiful modern lodge a short ride outside of Alta with breathtaking mountain views. Outdoor warm jacuzzi and indoor sauna was very enjoyable. Kitchen well equipped and rooms were clean and well furnished with towels and bedding. Communication with the host was great - would love to be back soon.
This place is SO GOOD. We stayed in some very fancy Alta accommodation which was great, but we absolutely LOVED our nights at Alta River Camping. The photos do not do the place justice. It is so cute, AMAZING value for money, great location and SO FUN! One of the best places we stayed on our trip.
Good location close but outside Alta. Nice cabin. Very friendly and helpful staff member. He did his best to allow for the heating of my car during the night (-20 C). The are only a few electricity plugs on the camp side and wire extension was necessary to reach these due to the snow.
Amazing location, food and staff. The breakfast was fantastic. The views from the room were stunning. Unfortunately it was cloudy, so we didn't see the Aurora, but if it was clear, we would have had the best view. Warm and cozy. The dinner was expensive, but worth every penny.
We enjoyed a lot the stay in Sorrisniva. The staff was very kind and helpful. Also, the food was very good and the rooms very comfortable. The landscapes around the hotel are great. We loved the husky experience provided by Trasti og Trine. For sure we want to be back.
Breakfast was really good, although pending pending completion of extensions it was at an adjacent building.
The hotel is really central in the town, and easily found and at the hub of facilities in town.
Wellness centre including yoga, sauna was a bonus.
The hotel was spectacular. We had the chance to view all the suites and they were all incredible. If you can splurge on the suite…do it! The art in the hotel is just incredibly creative and beautiful. All around in incredible!!
My first time staying at a Scandic, it is a really nice business hotel.
Big clean room, very comfy, refreshment available in the lobby,
Super breakfast and nice stuff
Plus there is a really nice and cozy restaurant in the lobby
Lovely property with really nice staff and an amazing restaurant. Had a walk through the husky dog yard and a walk down to the Alta River - all on the property - and a memorable and very high quality restaurant experience.
Amazing hotel, very nice environment and welcoming staff. Many activities with dogs are offered. I hiked with the dogs and a guide, it was great. I recommend ! The dinners are also exceptional.
Nice breakfast. Perfect service at the reception. Hotel provided early check-in once room was available, which was very nice. Perfect location. Good internet connection.
The views from the hotel are beautiful. the rooms are large and comfortable with a delicious breakfast. The staff is so kind and helpful with anything that you need!
