Great auto museum and seeing Burt Munro’s bike at E Hayes Hardware. Also a trip out to Ōreti beach where he practised racing his bike and then onto Bluff and then Riverton, Colac Bay, Cosy Nook etc and onward to Gemstone beach was well worthwhile. These are all things you can do regardless of the weather.

Unfortunately the visitors centre was closed in 2020, so there was no information about what to see and how to achieve this. We were recommended to visit Stewart Island, apparently being the main attraction. You needed to book online but there was no information
about the trip. At a cost of $200 each, rather expensive. Drove to Bluff to find out for ourselves, 30 kms but even less information. Very disappointing. Not much in the way of restaurants unless you are in to Asian food. One shopping centre, not much in it.

Nice flat walking, the new mall has all the usual shops plus some additional surprises. Shopping is great, streets very clean, Queens Park is lovely and well cared for and there is a lot of city centre development going on with improvements for locals and visitors alike. Amigos restaurant if you like chili and Mexican food is worth a try.

Great city on the up.
Great city on the up. Good selection of eateries and things to do and see. Most attractions are fairly close to the centre, and the airport is 5 minutes from there. I can happily recommend Invercargill for a visit.

Invercargill has a lot to offer. Queen's Park is a must-see. Aside from the beautiful gardens, there are nice bird aviaries and farmyard animals. It's a great place for families with a nice playground and cafe. Bill Richardson Transport World is a highlight, along with Oreti Beach which Bert Munro used as a race track. Hubber's Emporium and E Hayes are fantastic shops with many interesting things to see. There is a nice new mall and we found some good places to eat

Queens Gardens are a must, especially at rose time.
Queens Gardens are a must, especially at rose time. Ascot dinner excellent though a bit pricey.
I doubt anybody visits for he shopping ( e.g. one "mall " ) or eating out which is quite restricted.
Comfortable bed with a large, clean bathroom. The location is what I would consider at the edge of walkable distance to the center of town—no real complaints for anyone needing a short stay in Invercargill. Close enough to everything you need in a pinch, like supermarkets. TV, microwave, a mini-fridge, and a large closet round out a well-supplied room to stay in.
What an absolute delight. I could not fault this lovely welcoming hotel. The staff were amazing and extreme friendly and helpful. The added little touch of the beautiful tea cups and coffee cups in the room with a fresh bottle of milk was above and beyond. I have and will recommend to everyone going to Invercargill to stay at the Langlands hotel.
This place was a much nicer than expected. It was more like a home than a hotel. Would highly recommend especially for families. Super quiet, loads of parking both near our room and on the street. The kitchen and living area were both much larger than I realized. If you are staying in Invercargill this is a fantastic hotel.
The furnishings were lovely and of beautiful quality, owning an interior design service I always take notice of hotel rooms and Quest Invercargill had high quality clean and comfortable furniture and amenities.
Lovely hotel on the outskirts of town. We were here for an event which was very well run. We noticed a drop of gravy on my husbands jacket and the hotel team were really great and have had it cleaned for us.
The motel was very spacious, comfortable, clean and quiet. Very friendly and helpful hosts and staff. Great location - we really enjoyed our stay in Invercargill and would highly recommend this motel.
Great location. Easy parking. Brand new luxury accommodations. Very comfortable room with spacious bathroom that includes soaking tub. Great staff. Lots of dining options right in hotel.
Lovely clean and friendly place, Tracy at the front desk was so helpful and knowledgeable and gave us heaps of tips about Invercargill. Even had laundry facilities to use!
I’ve stayed in a lot of motels. This one was way above standard. Very comfy beds. Friendly staff. Great shower. Excellent TV/Netflix setup. Really great value for a motel.
Comfortable quiet cottage in beautiful countryside. Less than 10 minute drive from Invercargill. Immaculately clean. Margaret and Ross were excellent hosts 😊
