We spent 3 nights here at end November, the weather was pretty wet so we didn't do much walking. Enjoyed a Cheese-tasting evening, visits to the Thermal Baths and quick visits to the 2 wool factories. There's a surprising amount to do and see, we loved it.DelglynPortugal - 8.0Scored 8.0

A small town in the mountains. When visiting some places nearby one needs to be cautious about the roads as many mountain roads are pretty narrow even for small cars and one may need to reverse in case of traffic coming from in front. If you love long hikings, walks, the mountains you are in...
If you love long hikings, walks, the mountains you are in the right place. There you can really have great hiking sessions and walks. For the real deal you will need a guide and I highly recommend that you make a whole day Jeep Tour with lunch. This kind of programm is something that you don't want to miss in this area of Serra da Estrela. This is a place that you need to take the correct equipment for walking and hiking, the right shoes etc. It can rain a lot so you need proper waterproof clothing. It can get really cold there, so under waterproof clothing you need functional skin breathing active clothing. For the walks and hikings I do not recommend any clothing around cotton or woole. This location is great for active people and active families who love the nature and the amazing views that you can get there. They have there in Manteigas few restaurants, but keep in mind that it is a small village, so I would not recommend a stay larger than 1 week.Travelling is magicGermany - 10Scored 10

Manteigas is a not a place most tourists seem to hear about and, surprisingly, not a place which many Portuguese from the South of Portugal seem to visit. The variety of things to do in the area are wonderful. Whether you like winter sports of skiing and snow-shoeing to bicycling, fishing, camping, hiking in the Spring, Summer or Fall there are any number of activities year-round.

This place was such a pleasant surprise, despite a couple of white knuckle moments navigating the rather narrow and winding road leading down to the town from the main mountain road. The roads in Manteigas are much narrower than what we’re used to, but it’s relatively easy to get around if you take it slow. Enjoyed some excellent local cheese, charcuterie and wine at Queijaria Manteigas. Don’t miss the tour of the Burel Woolen factory, which is very interesting. The offerings at the on-site restaurant were fresh, imaginative and delicious. The indoor and outdoor common spaces were relaxing and well maintained. The heated indoor/outdoor pool was just the thing after a day of driving and navigating the twisting, winding roads that lead up to the property. House is placed on the hill so you can see all the valley (very beautiful), not the neighbor buildings. Owners were very nice, they gave a lot of advises and instructions where to go and what to do. The breakfast was prefect, a lot of various dishes, local cheeses and jams. There is also a museum in the hotel on mountaineering topic. We definitely recommend this place and have the plans to come back again.

Plan time to enjoy the sauna and the pool. You absolutely must see a sunrise! (While the sunrise views from the rooms are great - a very short walk brings one to an open position that provides an absolutely stunning view.)

We initially planned to get Panoramic Suite for the romantic getaway but missed it and booked Deluxe room. We've been provided with Maria Keil Panorama which in fact has the best location and view in the hotel which we liked a lot. They also have very good variety of dishes in the menu. Everything is very tasty. Interesting and beautiful design.
