Our room was very large and clean. The beds were very comfy. The TV was great as well as the WIFI connection. We loved having the Keurig coffee maker and K-cups in the room. We also took advantage of the additional hot cider and hot chocolate K-cups available at the front desk every evening. We enjoyed the large pool and hot tub in the evening after a long day of hiking. Our room faced the pool, but we did not have a problem with loud voices after quiet hours.

I love a hot breakfast when I'm looking to stay somewhere I always check for a hot breakfast to start my day. My favorite were the waffles but the biscuits and gravy were good too. At night they had the bonfires going it was beautiful to watch with the lake view.

Mackinac Island has something for everyone. Shoppers, hikers, walkers, site seers. Early or late season is best as there are much less people. Food options are endless. Island Slice for pizza, The Pink Pony for lunch, cocktails, The Gate House for dinner. Douds Market for snacks. There are so many more with great food. It's a beautiful place no matter the weather. Truly Michigan's not so hidden gem.

I have traveled to Mackinac Island four times.
I have traveled to Mackinac Island four times. Each time we have discovered something new. My favorite time to visit is in early fall. We enjoy biking around the island and hiking in the middle of the island to see all of the hidden gems (Anne's Tablet etc.) We enjoyed the haunted ghost hike also. (It was interesting and not too scary) Our favorite breakfast place was the Chuck Wagon. Our favorite dinner places were Millie's and The Pink Pony (the view is wonderful). We also enjoyed finding the Secret Garden at the Grand Hotel.

Mackinaw Island is breathtaking the minute you step off the ferry it’s like stepping back in time, it’s all horse and carriage or bikes there is no cars just people walking or riding bikes or horse and carriage, they have two butterfly house that is a must to see all the butterflies flying around, there is the grand hotel and a fort that are a must see, lots of biking trails lots of shopping along Main Street. And need a taxi call one from Main Street and a horse and carriage arrives to take you where you want to go

Always a beautiful, magical place where motor vehicles are not allowed, just horses and bicycles. It takes you back in time! Weather is usually perfect in the summer. Great restaurants! Historical buildings. Bring your “checkbook” as it’s pricey but well worth it!

Mackinac Island is a great place to relax or do things.
Mackinac Island is a great place to relax or do things. There is a lot of history and there are no cars! Bicycles, walking, and horse-drawn wagons are the way to get around. It was easy to get around and you will not have to lug any luggage to your hotel. It was great! There are a lot of restaurants to choose from. We went in mid-May to avoid any potential Summer crowds. The weather was crisp in the morning and warmed up in the afternoon...perfect Spring weather. We enjoyed the carriage tour of the island and saw a large arch rock formation, we took a horse-drawn taxi to the top of the mountain to tour the fort, we did some bike riding (many to choose from...conventional, electric, 3-wheeled, etc.), we went up to the Grand Hotel to walk around and look at its spledor, and visited the Butterfly Museum (behind St. Annes Church)...the museum had a great exhibit and included a large area you can walk through with all kinds of butterflies flying all over (a great place for kids & adults). There were a of lot of opportunities for great pictures everywhere.

The initial smell of horse poop gets in your nostrils when you first arrive in town but you get use to it. We went in the beginning of August and stayed 2.5 days which was plenty of time to explore and relax. Weather was beautiful. If you have a bike I would advice bringing your own if you want to save money. Try stopping by Kilwins Fudge shop and picking up their fresh fudge and caramel apples. Overall, wonderful experience of the island. I would definitely return and recommend others to go.

We liked the view from our room. The room was clean, cute, and comfortable. Walking into the room and seeing a small box of fudge and an inviting letter for staying with the hotel was super neat! The bike rental in front of the hotel was super convenient. The Ice House BBQ behind the restaurant was our favorite place to eat. Outdoor seating and amazing food! Definitely recommend eating there and staying here.
From the cleanliness of our rooms, to breakfast service, to the fast, efficient bike porters, the staff was wonderful. The rooms were cleaned daily, breakfast had many choices and the luggage service was on point! The hotel was on the main road and it was very easy to walk to from the ferry. The front porch had very comfortable seating for reading, phone calls or just hanging out.
Absolutely lovely hotel with a fantastic location right across from one of the main ferry services to the island (use Star Line, not the other one). Free concierge service to have our bags brought from and to the hotel from the ferry was very helpful and worked smoothly. Room was very comfortable.
Location Location Location. Right across the street from the port and the hotel sends staff (Donovan? was great) to get our bags and brought right to our room. On the main street where the bulk of the restaurants and bars are
Location is the only thing about this hotel. Frankly i do not recommend this one. We stayed at the Grand Hotel once it was way better. The bell service person was very friendly and helpful. The front desk is not really.
The Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Our luggage was transported to and from the ferry which gave us time to explore the island before checking in.The hotel is very close to the stores and restaraunts.
We had a great view. The room was very sunny, well decorated and inviting and clean.
The breakfast had variety, was plentiful and it was good.
The couple managing Pine Cottage are very congenial and helpful.
The older hotel decor was very good. The room and beds were comfortable. Nice view of the harbor from the 4th floor. Good breakfast but lack of seating.
