A good peaceful stay,, in a clean room. Comfortable enough. Wonderful owners,, helpful and serviceminded. Wifi worked great.
The motel sits by its own,, in the countryside, nothing nearby. There is a certain charm to that.

The hotel is at excellent location. The room was cosy, clean. But the overall feel is little old, which is not a problem for us. B'fast is good enough. Hot coffee is available 24 hours.

The complimentary breakfast exceeded all expectations. I wasn’t expecting so many hot dishes with 2 different kinds of omelets and sausages, but plenty for vegans too!!
The room was very comfortable and had everything we need. The view off the balcony of the Umpqua River was beautiful!

I came to visit family and visit the Wildlife Safari.
I came to visit family and visit the Wildlife Safari. Ate Abby’s pizza for the first time, it was delicious! There’s a Wal-Mart, Starbucks and other luxuries close by in Roseburg. Cute little town to be explored.

It's been 27 years since I've been to Winston.
It's been 27 years since I've been to Winston. The only familiar site was the big park across the street from my dad's home.
I don't recall it being such a tiny town. The three stores we went into had very friendly employees! However, the people of the town-that we saw
looked like they were on drugs. Such a sad site. I'm glad my dad who's 92
can't see very well and probably doesn't notice the few times he gets out to run errands.
I would only go to Winston to see my dad. On the bright side we had pizza that was delicious!!( forgot the name- but it was a girl's name) :)

Nestled just south of Roseburg, Winston is a quaint town...
Nestled just south of Roseburg, Winston is a quaint town with an affinity for the wild side and an abundance of friendly people. We went for the Wildlife Safari (on our way back from Crater Lake) and stayed the night before going to the park. The town itself is surrounded by beautiful hillsides, pine, fir, and madrone forests. Very picturesque.
We stayed at Wildlife Inn - just 3ish miles from Wildlife Safari. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and they offered a breakfast too. Great value overall. They also offer discounted admission to the Wildlife Safari park's drive thru safari. Be sure to ask for it!
For eating out, I recommend Johnny's restaurant - it's a classic Drive-In diner (50's style) and still offers drive-in service at your car. The burgers were delicious as were the fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. I recommend the "Pontiac" and "Cadillac" burgers. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Sit-down dining is also available inside and outside. We ate there twice (once for dinner around 8:00 and once for a late lunch the next day).
The Wildlife Safari park is the main attraction in Winston for sure. It's absolutely worth a visit. There's a great deal you can do there for no entry charge (all the "village" exhibits are free - primates, lions, the young cheetah, an anteater, a petting zoo, reptiles, so many beautiful birds, and more). But to make your visit more memorable, I highly recommend the elephant encounter (you can pet one of their African elephant's trunks and be just a fence away from her), and any of their photo encounters. The safari drive itself is absolutely worth it! Go slow and enjoy the ride.
We'll definitely be going back to Winston soon for another visit!
The hotel staff was absolutely amazing! The guy up front went out of his way to work with us on extending. He checked in with us often, asking if we needed anything and if the room was to our liking! Rooms were clean and smelled great! Everything we needed was there and its so close to so many restaurants. 7 eleven is right across the street to which is very convenient!
The only good thing about this visit was it is in Winston. We have stayed in another property there which was very nice but sadly they are no longer there.
