Situated in a castle dating back to around 1200, Youth Hostel Mariastein-Rotberg offers accommodation in a unique setting. it was just … a dream! a modest but unforgettable castle experience:) Thomas, the castle manager, was super kind and welcoming. the facilities are practically new - but combined so carefully with the old heart of the castle. the beds are comfortable, there are board games to choose from, and even during the colder months the heating system works great. would recommend a thousand times! (just keep in mind that it requires walking up some flights of stairs to reach the premises) so grateful for this experience ❤️

The ultra-modern Solothurn Youth Hostel is conveniently located a 5-minute stroll from the train station. The hostel offers free Wi-Fi and a panoramic rooftop terrace. Great location right on the river, and triple pane windows kept out the late night noise. Room was for 8 but we were only 3 so it worked out. Breakfast was very good; first time I've ever had a large baked pretzel for breakfast!
