The site became a new center of social life in Taiping. Another strong point: an open-air swimming pool on the 7th floor. Still another: wifi strong and stable, band-width comfortable.

The staff were polite, Shamini helped us to check in earlier as our room was available. That was really helpful. The other hotel staff were polite and accommodative. Check in and out was smooth. 200 rm deposit was needed via cash or card. Our room was on the concept floor and it was really up to our expectations. Cleanliness was impeccable, enjoyed the free flow of drinks at the lounge area. And the jacuzzi was really amazing. The view was good too overseeing the mountains. Truly enjoyed the availability of the filter water tap in the bathroom. The bed was absolutely comfortable. Tv channels were good. The pool was of a good size but the cleanliness can be improved. Love that it is an infinity pool.. nice roof top deck for you to lounge around too. Breakfast was quite a spread ranging from asian to international, absolutely love the ipoh coffee. Tastiness can be improved for some dishes especially the dhal for the prata.

Food is great, lots of choices. Easy to get around. There are lots of places to go and explore but you need a car to bring you around. My favorite is Bukit Merah laketown Resort 30mins from Taiping is an eco-tourism complex with a water park, eco park and where the Orangutan Island sanctuary is. Then the Charcoal Factory (Kuala Sepatang), Matang Mangrove forest reserve river boat ride in the fishing village formerly Port Well train station. Burmese Pool and the military cemetery. The famous Taiping Lake Garden, Kota Ngah Ibrahim landmark Museum, Anton Coffee factory, and Perak Museum. Maxwell hill great to see nature on a jeep ride. Taiping has so many old buildings dated back to 1800 around the town. There is one particular coffee shop we discovered (newly opened) its Yinn's Patisserie at 57, Jalan Barrack. This 1800's building was restored and the interior was beautifully decorated. The owner Mr Yeap Thean Hock designed the fabulous interior, he was so accommodating to tell us the whole history of the place. The cake and coffee was great as well as the ambience. Enjoyed Taiping very much.

The location of the hotel is in an area that is not very crowded. Parking is always available in front of the hotel but payable to the municipal council during office hours. Download the Perak parking app to facilitate parking payment. The room itself was quite clean and not too big nor too small. Everything was in working order and the view is either the front of the hotel or the back of the hotel. There is a vending machine in the lobby for drinks.

We loved our stay at Pangkor Laut. It is a beautiful resort on a small jungle island. All the staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Our room, the view, the poolside, the beach, the spa, everything was perfect. You can take Shuttle busses around the resort, however we did everything by foot. (be aware it is not a flat island and it goes quite uphill/downhill to the beach). You see a lot of animals (monkeys, hornbills, etc.), which is very nice. The resort has a nice relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful ambiance and offers very good quality of service and food. We will for sure be back.
