Al centro visitatori, oltre che visitare un museo molto carino sulla route 66 si può richiedere (gratis) il passaporto dell'Arizona. In quasi tutte le cittadine lungo il tratto dell'Arizona della route 66 si può ottenere un timbro e richiedere alla fine un certificato di percorrenza di tutto lo stato. Il mio soggiorno a Williams è stato più una toccata e fuga visto che siamo arrivati di sera e ripartiti al mattino, ma l'atmosfera che si respira è quella di una città tranquilla in cui passare piacevolmente una giornata tra una tappa e l'altra di un tour alla scoperta dell'Arizona.

Il paese in se non ha molto anche se non mancano ristoranti e alberghi. E' consigliata sopratutto per chi vuole visitare il Gran Canyon essendo a pochissime miglia di distanza (2 per l'entrata, 8 per l'area del villagio all'interno). Consiglio vivamente il tragitto da Las Vegas (Nevada) a Tusayan (Arizona) in auto. Paesaggio fantastico.

Phoenix città è poco interessante a parte per chi come me è andato al palazzo dello sport per i Phoenix Suns, però è un ottimo punto di partenza per programmare un viaggio in Arizona dove ci sono molte cose da vedere, dai parchi, deserti meravigliosi, musei botanici, fino al passaggio da sud per raggiungere il Grand Canyon.

Situata nel bel mezzo del nulla, lontano dalle grandi città...
Situata nel bel mezzo del nulla, lontano dalle grandi città e dagli aeroporti principali, a poca distanza dal confine tra Arizona e Utah, la cittadina non vale molto, è praticamente abitata solo da lavoratori dei numerosi hotel e motel del posto. E' nel cuore della grande nazione Navaho, la riserva che conserva alcune delle meraviglie naturali più belle di questa parte d'america. Porprio in questa cittadina si possono ammirare: il Grand Canyon che forma la famosa ansa a ferro di cavallo con il fiume Colorado che scorre sul fondo (Horseshoe Bend), il lago Powell e la sua gigantesca diga e le fantastiche grotte dell'Antelope Canyon nei suoi due versanti (Upper il più costoso e famoso ma anche sopravvalutato, e Lower favoloso e economico). Da qui se si hanno a disposizioni più giorni di sosta si possono fare escursioni in altre meraviglie della natura quali: The Wave, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon (South, North e East Rim) e salendo verso nord nello Utah: Zion Park, Bryce Canyon, Kaneb Dinosaur's Walk. Se si arriva da sud, magari partendo da Los Angeles si potrà percorrere un lungo tratto della mitica Route 66 (magari prevedendo una tappa intermedia).

Cittadina meravigliosa( decisamente costruita a doc per il turista) posizionata in una vallata circondata da montagne rosse e canyion, stupenda, da qualsiasi parte ti giri il panorama è fantastico, dotata di ottime strutture per mangiare e dormire. Gode di un ottimo clima anche in piena estate, cosa non da poco in Arizona!

Posso dire che mi è piaciuto TUTTO. Data la zona, ovvero nel mezzo del deserto dell'Arizona ha tantissimi servizi utili. È vicino all'Antelope Canyon ed alla Monument Valley (per la seconda c'è più di un'ora di auto da fare ma nulla di troppo per l'America). The location is fantastic, the views extraordinary. The room/suite very nice, well equipped and wonderful with a little balcony. There wonderful pools, some with magnificent views and also a gym and free laundry facilities.

It is a great alternative to the run of the mill hotels, quirky scenario but works well. Rail carriage was Comfortable AC didn’t work properly on our arrival as soon as we reported it the maintenance guy came over in less than 5 minutes and fixed it. Owner was very warm and approachable
