Colca Lodge & Spa is a mesmerizing place and would be a primary reason to return to Peru one day with an extended relaxation stay in mind. I booked the place only because I wanted to visit Cruz del Condor and watch the condors early in the morning and this place seemed close enough. I wasn't prepared for private grounds with llamas, alpacas and hummingbirds, 24h hot springs which, yes, we did use after midnight, and on-site spa with excellent massage services. All of that is located at the mouth of the most breathtaking canyon I have ever seen. Yes, I have been to the Grand Canyon - Colca is deeper, the scenery is more extreme and I generally find it more beautiful. The wildlife is spectacular. On top of plenty of condors and hummingbirds, we also saw wild horses on the mystic pre-Incan terraces, which intersect the less imposing slopes. I should also mention that we only had limited time to spare for Colca, but we really wanted to optimise our stay in this beautiful place so the staff let us check out late at no extra cost in order to have time to enjoy the spa and the hot springs. With 3 bedrooms, it can accommodate 6 people easily and comes fully equipped with a living room, kitchen, outdoor dining area and a lounge deck.
