This was our first accommodation on our Sri Lanka trip and oh my, they set the bar very high. Host family was so welcoming, they greeted us with fresh juice and cold towels. And from there on, it was only better. Our room was spacious, well equipped with comfortable bed, large bathroom and AC. Surrounding garden looks like paradise and the pool is a welcomed bonus. Delicious breakfast and breathtaking dinner, definitely try both if they are offered to you. You'll get a delicious, home cooked Sri Lankan meals you won't easily forget.

The family running this place is very warm and welcoming. The owner helped us up and down with all our heavy luggage, and the wife cooked as an amazing local dinner and offered us fairly priced drinks. While the country was facing some electricity outages, they did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. You could not find any other place in the neighbourhood offering a better value for money than this place, and such warm people happy to give you any tips you might need exploring Sri Lanka.

Well set in the centre of Anuradhapura, Lake Edge Resort provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, free private parking and room service. We planned to stay 2 nights but we ended up extending it to 5 nights. The family is extremely friendly and hospitable, going far and beyond to make our stay convenient and unforgettable: local tips, washing clothes, cooking any meals, short transports, and scooter rent can be arranged without hassle. They even significantly discounted the final bill and gifted us with some local souvenirs! The food was absolutely delicious! Fresh ingredients cooked with love, and the recipes were changing according to our liking. Every morning when we left to explore and late at night when we came back they came out to greet us and see if all is fine. The resort is with amazing views. The lake, sunrise and sunset are gorgeous with a view to 3 biggest stupas with lights on the whole new night. It’s 7-10 minutes drive with a scooter to the nearest stupas and ancient hidden sights. We had many mornings e.g. at Wessagiriya cave complex meditating and resting on smooth rock formations under giant rocks shadows, and watching peacocks’ dancing. All rooms are with A/C and very comfortable beds. There is no water heating (or cooling) so if you don’t demand hot showers but instead prefer refreshing cool showers during the hot days, it will be perfect. Next time we will come back with a bigger family. Thank you so much for everything! 🙏

Situated in Anuradhapura, 13 km from Anuradhapura Railway Station, S & D Resort features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. We absolutely loved this property. From the minute we arrived the family were smiling and helpful & greeted us with a lovely juice. The room was exceptionally spacious, very clean and the bed was very comfy. Aircon was also great. The family seemed to go out of their way to please. Location is perfect, very quiet & just a 5 min walk to town and about 10 mins to the base of Mihithale steps leading up to the beautiful temple. If this property is available - just book it!
