Saccharum - Resort & Spa on ylellinen 5 tähden designhotelli. Se sijaitsee Calhetan rannalla Madeiran vuoriston ja Atlantin valtameren välillä. Iso ja hyvätasoinen hotelli saaren lounaisosassa, vajaa tunti lentokentältä pikatietä pitkin. Erittäin ystävällinen henkilökunta, useampi ravintola ja kohtuullinen Spa-osasto. Palvelut toimivat. Yökerhoja kaipaaville ei paras vaihtoehto sen enempää hotellina kuin paikkakuntanakaan. Valitussa huoneessa ollut vuode oli riittävän kokoinen, ilman tarkistusmittausta 220x260. Myös peitto riitti kummallekin.

The in-house restaurant is very charming. Breakfast is also fantastic. Would suggest it is an ideal honeymoon/romantic break spot. The customer service is out of this world. First class all the way. Hire a car if you want to go out anywhere, but you could equally just stay at the complex the whole time.

The "hotel" (only 4 small villas) is in a beautiful location with outstanding views. The small villa's are very private and far from each other and beautiful as well. The bed was super comfortable, shower facilities great. Very nicely decorated unit (living room etc). Very nice pool and sauna (it was too cold for us to go in the pool). We had 2 dinners on site with the hosts that were very nice and great to meet the other guests and the hosts. The location is on the north east of the island which is the wilder part of the island. Breakfast is self-catered: you get fresh bread in the morning and have fresh eggs, cheeses, salami etc in the fridge and make your own breakfast. There is a very nice real coffee machine and ground coffee provided as well.

Trooppisten puutarhojen ympäröimässä Pestana Grand Ocean Resort -hotellissa on Madeiran saaren suurin suolaisen veden uima-allas. It was a beautiful location. The staff was very accommodating. I loved the half-board feature. Everything was perfect.
