Pretty town....very walkable.
Pretty town....very walkable. The fosse Dionne was incredible and worth the visit. The Hotel Dieu and notre Dame are worthy of spending time as is the incredible Chevalier D'eon museum. We had the luxury of staying here and I wish it had been longer as Phillippe Luyt (a descendant of the Chevalier) runs the place and can take you through the museum...alas, he has only a little english and moi only a little French. The people of this town were delightful and friendly and the food wonderful.

the place was quiet but enough to entertain us for a couple of days. Couple of restaurants and bars. It was a very good base for cycling to nyores and Chablis. Great bit of history with the water spring. People are very friendly even with our poor french they helped us out as much as possible. Good wine recommendations

We very much appreciated how well this place full of history was being kept and taken care of. Our room exceeded our expectations and the breakfast basket in front of the door was a great idea. The breakfast was one of the nicest we had in France and the fact that you could have a picnic in the terrace and enjoy the view while having breakfast was a nice surprise. The host and his wife were lovely and super hospitable. Tonnerre is a sleepy little town, so if you like a peaceful atmosphere it's a perfect base for trips in the area.
