VS-Villingen is a Medieval walled city within easy driving (or train) distance of many of the attractions in the Black Forest area of Germany. It is one hour and 15 minutes from either Zurich or Stuttgart International airports. It has an incredible Fastnacht celebration in February. Like Mardi Gras in the USA, it is celebrated during the last days before the start of Lent (Ash Wednesday). The parades are amazing with ancient wooden face masks and elaborate costumes representing the various regions.

Near a lovely market around the Church. I couldn't find Dormero hotel at first and had to ask a few passers by, finally a local knew where it was. You have to go around the corner to find the hotel. Will be good for tourists if the hotel had a sign post on the main pedestrianised road. Loved the 7 x free drinks in the fridge. Thank you very much for a safe and relaxing stay in Villingen.

The apartment was pleasantly pre-warmed, which was most welcome in December in Germany. The queen bed was very comfortable and the bedding provided perfect warmth. It is conveniently located near a grocery store and a bank with an international ATM, and is within easy walking distance to the City Center. The rooms and public areas were spotless clean. The bar was open until well after midnight and offered drinks for taking to the room even beyond that time. An impressive service, considering the rather quiet times due to Covid at the moment. Prices were also very reasonable.

Lots of food and shopping in short walking distance from the hotel. Hotel is pet friendly with no extra fee. Room was very clean, and had a fan for the warmer days. A few free drinks were provided in the fridge.
