The Hopetoun Arms Hotel is a delightful 10 minute drive off the A74(M), so a super convenient place to stay between Southern England and further North in Scotland. Our room (the Twin with Garden View) was large and comfortable, with a large en suite shower room. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We at an evening meal in the hotel, the menu was a reasonably standard pub menu, but the food was good quality, excellently prepared, and the prices very reasonable. The breakfast was equally good. The hotel is dog friendly but spotlessly clean. The village and narrow gauge railway have an interesting history and there are good walks.
The New Lanark Mill Hotel is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hotel has spacious en suite rooms, a restaurant, bar and swimming pool.

Absolutely beautiful building nestled in the middle of the breathtaking surrounding. We quickly checked in at 5 pm. and went for a walk around not to waste a daylight. Beautiful track along the river, up to the waterfalls - easy to find, well signed. Designed to be easily accessible almost for everyone - even a wheelchair users can enjoy the majority of it.
Entertaining for children as well. A few steps away from the hotel is a well designed playground for children.
Very big rooms, spotlessly clean, well equipped. We were very lucky that our room was facing the river, so we slept with windows open just to listen to the sounds of nature. I can't remember when I slept so well.
Delicious breakfast - full Scottish was a "must," plus some continental selection.

Located halfway between Edinburgh and Gretna Green my wife to be and I stayed here just for a night before eloping the following day. We had the place to ourselves, our room was very spacious and tastefully decorated and dinners and breakfasts we had in the Ghillie restaurant were excellent. A very memorable start to our visit to Scotland for all good reasons.

Centrally located but tucked away so nice and quiet
The room was clean and tidy, the beds were good.
The windows had child safety features, the heating, hot water and bath/shower was fine.
All in all it was a great night's stay at a very fair price.
We were all very happy 😊

Hotel was great with wonderful views.
Hotel was great with wonderful views. But the breakfast at the service station is terrible. Do yourself a favour and travel 5 mins south to a much much better option. The next junction south has a truckers cafe just off the main road with ample parking. the food was brilliant and well priced. We will definitely be going back for some more of their breakfast on option.
This hotel is perfect as a long-distance stopover. Despite being situated at a service station just off the M74 the location is beautiful with lots of wildlife around. The room was quiet and very clean, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom also clean and well-equipped with bath/shower, shaver socket and excellent lighting. The receptionist, Lynne was welcoming and helpful.
Handy hint – stop off in Moffat (south of here) for cheap fuel, and for food in the 'Rumbling Tum' cafe.
If you are looking for a night's rest on a long journey, north or south, I would highly recommend Days Inn Hotel. Whilst not being 'the lap of luxury', you get a decent, very clean room with coffee/tea making facilities, a clean bathroom, and a warm welcome from friendly staff.
Nice clean room at the back of the hotel, overlooking fields and sheep (I asked for a quiet room). Staff lovely, especially Cameron on reception, couldn’t do enough for me. Lynn who arrived in the morning was also very nice and helpful. Would certainly visit again.
The Days Inn at Abington, Scotland has a super location. It is located next to a super service area which offers all types of food, general store and a furl station. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
This is a basic hotel but in a very good location if you need an overnight stop on a trip up north. It's very good value for money. Plenty of space for walking the dog outside. Morning coffee from Starbucks at the services next door but was a bonus.
The location was handy for our trip. Dog friendly. Size of family room was decent. Staff were friendly. Great communication. The building is better sound insulated than most other hotels - we couldn't really hear noises from any other rooms.
The staff on the desk and cleaning staff were incredibly friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean with a bath instead of a wet room. Quiet surroundings. Close to amenities. Even with many dogs in the hotel and nearby a motorway it was quiet.
I slept like a baby for the first time in weeks. I don't know if it was the drive from Essex, but I hit the pillow and was out like a light. Also, the location does wonders to the hotel's benefit, as the view was stunning.
We were attending a wedding at nearby Cornhill Castle and this hotel was the perfect location. Good value for money, right next to the 24 hour services which has everything you will need, was just great for our trip
Does what it says on the tin. A stop over on the way to Edinburgh. Arrived late and checkin was fine, accomodation was slightly worn but all very clean, room was warm and hotel was quiet so slept well.
